Why so delayed blitzes go unblocked

They leave them in a zone and they drop back by the time routes hit the middle after the switch stick.

Bottom line is there should be an easy way to identify that you don’t want to commit lineman to block that player as previously commented.   

Another fix would to be able to manually identify a linebacker for the running back to pick up.

I understand what they’re doing but it’s essentially the same thing as a buff blitz in real life. I usually always leave my RB in to block because my eyes are always downfield instead of looking at pressure and that seems to help. 

Have you tried double teaming the DT that crashes in the inside gap?

I know the counters, but the point is that the defense is still only rushing 2 to 3 lineman and 2 linebackers with one bluffing against five lineman. It would be an easy pickup with basic blocking rules.

It is a glitch in my opinion. The best part is that if you simply leave the running back in to block they likely will not pick it up either. There is a clearly a gap in the coding of the game.

It is terrible but a spread out formation kills their user or the seams. The loop delayed blitz’s really should have been patched by now tho.

YOU try "bluff blitzing" and getting back ten yards the opposite way in one-and-a-half seconds. Get out on your front yard and do it a few times. You can't. Even if you were an athlete, you couldn't. You must think if these defenders say "boo" that's enough to make a 6'6" guard flinch. Come freakin' on!

Sick of stupid stuff like this being talked about like "it's in the game". The stuff that happens here is physically impossible, and pretending that defenses win the numbers game by feinting toward a lineman and locking him up for a full second just shows that you believe NFL players are freakin' stupid. The stupid ones get cut. Period.

I played on the offensive line, a simple misque like that is enough to make a guard slide the wrong way lol. Why do you think NFL quarterbacks get whacked by unblocked rushers all the time.

Yes, quarterbacks get whacked by unaccounted-for pass rushers. Not every freaking down.

If you were playing pros, you wouldn't waste your time on these boards. That's fine. 99.999% of us don't have the athleticism to make an NFL roster. I certainly don't. But these dudes for the most part don't have rocks in their head. They've got entire staffs that coach them on their opponents' players tendencies. There are cues that tell an alert lineman that hasn't had his psyche or will broken that he doesn't have to commit to blocking a guy standing within two yards of the line of scrimmage unless he's instructed to. He can react, in a sensible way, and when the defender disengages, he can find a way to make himself useful. Looking at what you wrote, some of these interior linemen might be as diligent and hard-working as the YouTube-watching "go kill urself"-taunting scrubs playing this game from out of their relatives' basements.

Do everyone on this forum and yourself a favor and go read through some college scouting reports for offensive lineman prospects. You'll find a variety of takes on guys, but you'll see a lot about "balance", and you'll see that "feints" are for offensive linemen too. You'll see that guys who get caught out of position against stunts and twists get flagged for it. If you played offensive line, none of this will be new to you. Rather, it will be a reminder of how technically difficult the position is. And while I get that that complexity makes it hard for EA to program these interactions in a realistic way, if Madden offensive linemen tried to apply for unemployment, their employers would dispute the claim on the basis that they didn't work when they were an employee.

You do understands NFL quarterbacks set their own protection. It takes some effort from you to set your own protection, including setting slides, double teams and identifying blitzers. You cant complain if youre  letting the line stick to their auto assignment.

I do understand that. I set protection assignments and watch them get ignored.

That was just a little patronizing. We weren't even talking about accounting for pass rushers. We were talking about offensive linemen having seizures every time a user feints toward the line. It's a cheap way to win the numbers game, and it doesn't work in real life because physics and because NFL offensive linemen are smarter than the guys that play this game. And also the guys who program it.

They only do that if they’re crashing away to initiate the dumb out, but you can account for it by sliding or leaving in your RB to fill in the gap. I won’t say it’s a glitch because it can be accounted for with 5 lineman with a few audibles, and sometimes it’s not even a glitch out. Defensive lineman win possessions vs double teams in real life, and all these players are statted, and trait glitched to perform like prime Aaron Donald.

I’m OK with guys occasionally winning double teams. That happens. In fact, this game doesn’t demand the tactics of that often enough, partly because so many opposing teams in higher levels of competition have two or three players that are Aaron Donald-ish. That’s why I put resources into my offensive line, although that seems to not be the play this year.

I’m OK with ordinary linemen getting an occasional win. That happens.

I’m simply not OK with idiot linemen. I’m not OK with constant fast pressure on three-or-four-man rushes because they would rather try to win a staring contest.

As for the proposed adjustments you mentioned, Max Protect doesn’t seem near as effective as it was November. Unsurprisingly, the fast defenders that are better able to exploit dumb AI are now also better able to get around the turnstiles that are the typical running back.

I’ve been running a somewhat budget offensive line all year and it held just as good as when I put coins into it. There are certain things that are glitched such as someone usering an end with speedster lined up wide and running around everyone, or the loop blitz’s that requires a 6 man protection for a 50/50 chance to block 4.

When all the glitches are regarded as glitches, you have the basis for a code of honor.

Although I will say that online gaming has changed over the past 30 years. Honor doesn’t seem particularly important to almost anyone. The win is everything.

True. I guess we all have different definitions of glitches and that's okay. 

For example, Audibling and motioning over a WR/TE to have a 4 WR set on one side is definitely a glitch. ( I.E. Trips TE and motion TE to the trips side)

This blitz? Playing someone who is good enough to create the a gap consistently, backing off their user and switch sticking everywhere is a nightmare. May not be a glitch to some people, but having a consistent 4 man A gap is glitchy IMO.
