Take: having a lot of coins is less enjoyable then little coins

That's kind of an indictment of how poor the actual Madden gameplay is and has been for years... that so many people would rather engage in the gambling aspects of the game, versus playing "simulation" fatball.

You're not wrong, it can be entertaining to reroll and shit, but I try to reserve my Training for when there's 3M+ coin LTDs (and maybe some profitable sets) available to hopefully fund the chase and make the experience worthwhile. Even then, I'm looking for a specific card and the goal is to improve my team, not just gamble. Different strokes for different folks, but there's plenty of other places to gamble with significantly better odds. Unless you're under 18, in which case this is a casino for literal children, oof.

But the thing is most people don't understand that you won't win more games with a top end team. You need good cards with speed at wr and db but not so much at other positions. I have almost all bnd or low budget cards. My team is 90ovr with a value of about 1mil and Nabers and Lawrence Taylor are 800k of that. So the rest of the team is worth 200k. I still use 83 Tyrone Tracy HB and all o-line below 90 except free Madden. I got lucky with a Trevor Lawrence bnd pull off that 200 points pack. Before that I had 90 Luck for a long time and still won 16 games of mut champs most weeks. I have about 5 mil and still enough tokens for 3 legends. I usually wait til 95/96s to spend cuz some of those cards u can use til the end. Don't spend big on o-line and DTs you won't notice a difference except for abilties. And also I don't even play that much or do investments.Just play smart and spend smart. Grind punctually for objectives and bnd cards that improve your team.

Yea man I actually agree with your take! This is probably the best year for low spenders and NMS. All of the free cards are usable and actually really good. I still see Sean Taylor and WR Megatron on everyones field. I sold my team before ZC was over and fielded an all BND team and still had some really good cards to be competitive. I think its best to spend your coins on a great QB with a great stack, and players with discounted abilities. The rest doesn't even matter as long as they have speed to keep up. 

This week, I had to sell my LB Tyreek Hill. He was a monster for me during ZC, but without abilities, he gets dunked on in the middle of the field. Sold him and brought back Barr to my team. Those kinds of upgrades could be a difference maker.

You don't make the thresholds if you don't have high attributes, and you don't make high attributes without gradually getting a higher OVR. You also don't make the thresholds for most abilities without having high attributes. There are, of course, exceptions. There aren't enough exceptions to where anyone can make the general statement that having high-end cards isn't necessary.

Who knows? I might make a Cardinals theme team one day, and I might need a high OVR backup if EA introduces an injury component to MUT. So I got Leinart to the point where I guess I need to make complete one set to get his final token.

True but very few abilities really have an affect on the game and those u can even get with lower ovr cards. But u can't even use that many cuz of the restrained points.

I use inside stuff, defensive ralley and as many ko's I can fit after that but they are somewhat inconsistent as are a lot of abilities. Like sometimes a wr with route tech can't beat a db without any abilities or a KO lights up but nothing happens. KOs are iffy in general. If ur DB is not close they won't do anything. And if he is close he probably knocks it out anyways. I think that KOs really have an effect is very rare.

On offense all Qb with slinger, sfl. I don't even use hrm that much in comparison to years past. If I can get it discounted with my Qb I take it but it's not a must. I just have my playbook that has everything I need.

As the year comes to an end there are usually a lot of cards with high discounted abilities but I will get those then.

But thresholds are already in the game. Any lineman over 90 RBK or PBK is going to block the same as a 99.

Trust me about linemen. I tested this myself. It's abilities and then it's basically a counter til they get beat. They disengage if u press sprint and u will get the occasional instashed no matter how good the linemen. I have an 86 rg and 87 c and they hold up. I tested this like two years ago extensively. 99 or 90 linemen. Makes no difference without abilities. Of course golds get more instasheds. But even a full gold o line wont get demolished vs 93s as u would expect.

I think zone thresholds are the most important. Like you said past 90 it's no difference. It think for flats it's 85.

Qb it's s80 m85 d90 to avoid random misses. But just think to the start of the year. Did Qbs throw that less accurate than now with like 10 less accuracy stats? THP is for how far they can throw but not zip on the ball.

Just be clear. What matters most are abilities. And even only a few that consistently work.

AP discounts are everything this time of year. Malcolm Jenkins is a non-LTD that continues to sell for around 570k because it has Mid-Zone KO for 1 AP. Right now, low-AP abilities will dominate the market. We're not talking 1 AP Pick Artist. We're talking 66.67% off the common AP cost. The break you often get off of the Zone KO abilities, even if not as dominant last year, is drive-ending at times.

It’s actually annoying you can’t build the new cards in a bnd for half price than the tradeable. Or have power ups to create demand in certain cards. 
 

it’s just annoying buying cards and lose half the value the next day, yes that’s how bad the packs can change a market on mut. They should take a page out of fifas page for sbc. I don’t mind tying up coins. Especially if I’m set on 3 teams cards.

BND Is almost a punishment now, not a grind or a rewarding way to grind the game

Yes cuz people believe EA could code a good game or listen to what their fav streamers says. Sure when I can get them discounted Intake em. Makes you feel good like it makes a difference. But as I wrote before. I had knockouts without abilities start of the year and don't have much more with them. Ur db needs to be close and if he is he will knock it out most times without. Yes they work sometimes. But how likely is it that on the last play of a close game your opp throws at one of your dbs with a ko and exactly then he is close enough and knocks it out cuz of the ability? Very rare. Not saying that it's not a bit easier with the absolute best team and I could win more. But I doubt it would be more than 1-2 close games in one mut champs week.

And also I spend end of the year when the heavy ability discounts are in game.

Your defensive back won't be close if it doesn't have speed. You won't have top-end speed without high-end cards. Top-end speed plus Zone KO abilities in the context of a high-OVR team with discounted AP pass rush abilities and a highly-augmented offense with fast players and abilities that get the ball out quickly and downfield quickly make a huge difference.

I'm not arguing that terrible players with credit cards will beat experienced players with budget beasts. But no one is going to show up at MCS with the team you argue is competitive.

Just don’t violate the TOS in the process. Always gotta put a disclaimer in there.

I prefer to take my time team building for the scheme I want to use. I spend quite a bit of time team building. I really enjoy it and wish there was a lot more detail here. I usually have multiple lineups I’m using at any given time as well. Keeps it interesting. As a fan I often have a Lions theme team but obviously I don’t limit myself to that.

Market and AH work is clearly something I enjoy and I can always add more coins to the stack no matter how many I have. Even if it is pointless to do so. Good coin, team and binder management are the foundations of a healthy MUT account and well leveraged MUT coin stack. That’s pretty good. Package it up and slap a sticker on it. Preferably a scratch and sniff. Those three things keep me moving and grooving pretty good in MUT but sometimes you just need a break and maybe a different game. I usually find a renewed passion after returning from a short hiatus.

You can have the journey and the destination or just the destination. If it’s the middle seat on a long international flight I might get it. Or you’re allergic to peanuts but damn look at that view.

The entire point of MUT is getting the Cards.
