Upgrading Season players works a little differently in MUT 27. Whether you're a returning MUT player or new to the mode, we'll walk you through the new Season 1 upgrade process and rank all of the upgradeable reward players to help you decide who is worthy of your Season Tickets.
Steps for Upgrading Season 1 Players
Important: Once you exchange a Season 1 Upgrade Token for 20 SP on a player, those Skill Points are permanently tied to that player and cannot be transferred to another Season 1 player.
- Step 1: Earn 375 Season 1 Tickets by completing Objectives and increasing your Field Pass level.
- Step 2: Go to the Season Tickets tab of the MUT Store and purchase a Season 1 Upgrade Token for 375 Tickets.
- Step 3: Open the player you want to upgrade from your binder or lineup and select Upgrades. Scroll to Exchange and exchange your Season 1 Upgrade Token for 20 Skill Points (SP).
- Step 4: While still in the player's Upgrades menu, go to Attributes and use the 20 SP to upgrade your player to the next step.
Season 1 Player Upgrade Rankings
Theme teams, positions of need, and playstyle will ultimately determine which Season 1 player is best for your lineup. All six upgradeable reward players—including pre-order reward Kam Chancellor—are viable, but some should provide more long-term value than others. Here's how we rank the Season 1 players from best to worst:
- #1 Michael Pittman Jr | WR | Steelers, Colts
- A free 6'4" WR to start the game? Yes, please. With most offenses regularly putting three or more receivers on the field, WR is one of the positions where depth matters most. Pittman's size and positional value should allow him to make an impact longer than most of the other Season 1 options.
- #2 Kam Chancellor | SS | Seahawks
- Assuming you pre-ordered Madden 27 before 7/24, Kam would be our next recommendation. Kam is a 6'3" safety who traditionally makes an excellent user-controlled defender, especially early in the MUT year.
- #3 Tremaine Edmunds | MIKE | Giants, Bears, Bills
- A lot of people are sleeping on Edmunds right now since we all have a free 86 OVR Luke Kuechly temporarily. However, once Kuechly gets nerfed to 80 OVR on August 20th, an upgraded 6'4" Edmunds could help fill that void. Like Kam, he's also a strong user-controlled option on defense.
- #4 Calais Campbell | DT | Ravens, Cardinals, Falcons, Jaguars, Dolphins
- Maybe your defense needs help up front winning the battle in the trenches? If so, Campbell is always a solid option with good block shedding and speed for the position. His massive 6'8" frame can also help disrupt throwing lanes and make an impact against the run.
- #5 Tyler Linderbaum | C | Raiders, Ravens
- Offensive linemen aren't always the most exciting selections, but they tend to stay in your lineup longer than most reward players in MUT. If you're already set on defense and at WR, Linderbaum is a safe choice.
- #6 Jalen Thompson | FS | Cowboys, Cardinals
Pittman is our favorite option for most players, while Kam and Edmunds are the best alternatives if you'd rather use your upgrade on defense. Theme Team players should prioritize Chemistry when it makes sense for their lineup. If none of the options really interest you, you can always redeem the Tickets for packs in the Store, such as the Flea Flicker pack, or save them for Season 2.
