I still feel like the chess match is there, but you have to know the adjustment to stop whatever rpo/hb direct/etc play and then be able to actually get the adjustment off if it's complex. I am 44 and have been playing Madden for 30 years. I just cant do the adjustments as quick as I needed to be competitve.
Love seeing some other gaming-grandpas out there... i'm quickly closing in on fifty and still manage to get the muscle memory down for my defensive adjustments, but i barely play competitive offensive snaps these days, as my primary role and function is DC in our little squads trio. I love defense, even this year when it's ridiculously difficult and we will inevitably give up points, but my goodness, the mere fact that Cover 4 Drop out of Dime 3-2 / Dollar is such an elite run defense is downright absurd.
Of all the broken features of this objectively not-good game, the offensive line play and horrendous blocking logic is potentially the worst aspect in a long line of complaints. I can hover the DT and shoot the gap for a lot of run defense. I took a decades long break, but somehow managed to find my way back and was lured to MUT, because that's what/where all the best players and competition congregate -- and well, i'm a great big sucker.
