Crystal Chem drama…

What is your point of view on the crystal chems? I think it is extremely clear EA have realised the mistake of putting plus 1 speed into the game so early, they’ve now release Saqoun who is RB1 aside from Gibbs (who is unobtainable for most) and micah who is the best defensive card in the game arguably…

and both will not get an upgrade path to enable their crystal chems… EA is trying to get people off their cards. Almost guarantee Surtain gets a most feared card which is the best DB in the game

what’s your stance on this? i have all three crystals from that drop, and i don’t see why else they’d be going about it the way they are as in prior years the let us put these motivator cards into newer versions within an upgrade

break this down for a guy too poor to have chem crystals, are you saying these cards are OP and now madden is trying to demote the purchase of these cards??

exactly what i am saying. EA have realised how over powered it is and they are trying to lure players away from using them

it creates an interesting debate though. I am little money spent, meaning i only buy season passes disclaimer at end if you care**  The interesting debate is whether this is a good or bad move by EA… in one argument, players who are NMS who don’t have a lot of coins can never obtain crystals and it creates a small speed disadvantage so EA phasing them out slightly removes that factor although micah is still going to be millions of coins, but for players who can afford them, they’re forced to choose whether they value a back up with speed chem or they want to purchase the brand new best in game card i.e. new saqoun or micah

**I was able to obtain crystals due to a few reasons, a) i profit a lot from sets and b) consistently winning the event players and getting coins from Champ tier in ranked so i am blessed to have the coins i have for a little money spent player

my honest opinion is they should have never put a plus one speed boost into the game this early period. but they already have so it’s too late for that, now them phasing them out seems like a calculated and sneaky move to those who have them. 

it’s almost like “they’re there, but you now can’t use any other saquons the entire year if you want to capitalise off it” which seems like a different approach from previous maddens

Speed matters more, crystal players will always hold value more than their upgrades

Only way to fix it is place the crystal players into the new card. Similar to power up program

feels like we got to 90 pretty quick, i can see folks giving up on buying them due to price, question ...1 set boost speed on defense and 1 set for offense. is that right

Plus 1 SPD on theme team will be locked in al year.

I don't think EA feels like they made a mistake adding the Crystal +1 SPD boost.  How else were they going to get people to pay $250 for that step offer?

That being said... yes I think they will be trying to get people to move on from those cards and releasing good versions of Saquon, Micah, and Surtain is the best way to do that.  I personally will be skipping those upgraded versions and keeping the original crystals for most of the year.  I really like getting +3 SPD on any TT I feel like running (currently Jags), so they will just be sitting in backup spots for a very long time.  

If you're a hardcore fan of the Eagles... Cowboys... Broncos... you will have a tough choice to make.

Personally I think you should be able to add the crystal card to their newer cards as an upgrade to unlock crystal chem on them....however I think they should only get the team and crystal chem of who they played for....that way every tt can get the crystal boost and people that run the teams of the selected players can still use upgraded carda

The plus 1 is too valuable to replace any of those cards with an upgrade imo. You’re right they didn’t think this through and now people are going to have 86 cards in their lineups all year now. I don’t particularly care for the boosts the latest Crystal player get. They aren’t game changing.

I don't know what's worse: Crystal players, or an Auction House that only lets a fraction of the full number of active users get first crack at buying an item before others can get an opportunity. It's frustrating to refresh, refresh, refresh, and then finally realize the item has just been purchased, but I was never going to have a chance at it.

But back to the topic, of course +1 SPD was stupid. It will be a thing until about May, when SPD begins reaching 99 at most positions. Theme Team [insert random noun] will be the thing that kills Release One Crystal.
