STRIKESHOT1 said:I could see them making the odds astronomically low, seeing if they can get away with whatever is happening with 100ovrs in 2k or whatever.... but it can't be so low that none are pulled the first 12 hours when everyone is ripping, and THEN 4 are pulled in a 4 hour stretch when presumably way less people are opening packs.
Wait wtf 2k has 100 ovrls
I think everyone getting this 99 Kelce for free would be awful for the game. Especially considering the fact that it wont actually be everyone and only people who happened to be tapped in on March 4th of 2024
FloorGeneral said:They tweeted about it, that it was 'LIVE NOW', and apparently there were splash screens advertising it in the store. They clearly meant for it to be available, as they also released the 96 for training, and they usually get released simultaneously.
Whatever the case, they're gonna do something. I'm not saying it's gonna be Oprah handing out Kelce's, but they fucked up royally with this drop.
Either they deleted the tweet saying he was live or someone misread the tweet.
this is the only tweet I have seen for him and there's no mention of the card being live in it

I also went looking for splash screens last night and saw nothing, I'm not saying they aren't there I'm saying I went looking and couldn't find any splash screens or mention about the 99 being in packs

I don’t have twitter so I can’t comment on that part of it. I did see the banner in game at two different times when I logged on last night saying in packs until 3/9.
EA was the very first comment on the tweet that you linked, stating "Live Now"
Martyr1968 said:Ok so they definitely announced it yesterday...on 3/4. The splash screen was up yesterday...
But if you go to the info screen here:
https://www.mut.gg/programs/mut-24-tribute/
The release date shown is 3/5....
Now I don't know if this date comes from MUT.gg or EA. If it comes from EA then that is clearly an admission that they did not release it in packs on the day they advertised
The release date shown for items and programs in our database is automated based on when things are imported. Both Kelce items were imported after 7pm ET, which is currently midnight GMT. That is why the date shows the 5th. Cards rarely get imported after midnight GMT and before midnight EST, but if any do in the future, you will see the next day listed.

Thanks for the info Wizzle. In any event ,on X, EA tweeted yesterday that the card was live when clearly it wasn't. And I doubt it is even now.
I think the card not being live now is definitely on purpose while they figure out what to do about all of this. What a mess lol.
Edit: I stand corrected, as evidently someone has pulled him from a pack. Go figure lol.

Oh I'm not happy about Kelce's pull rate either and I linked their tweet in this thread. I was just sharing how that date is generated on our end.

If you go to @eamaddennfl on Twitter they have a pic of card when announced. First comment is from themselves saying "live now"

Absolutely this!!!
I always hate these situations. I completely believe in the idea of makerights for those who honestly believed that he was in packs and spent coins/points trying to pull him. However, I'm sure that more than half of the people opening packs did so knowing/assuming that he wasn't in packs and were specifically banking on the makeright. Makerights were a good solution before they became an expectation and started being abused.
I also don't believe that a 99 Kelce should just be given to everyone who opened packs. Not everyone was going to pull him. I'm sure there were also plenty of people opening packs that didn't even know 99 Kelce existed. It's definitely a messy situation with no perfect solution. The best solution would be for EA to replace each pack opened during that time so everyone would get back their chances to pull Kelce, but I'm betting that's pretty difficult for EA to pull off flawlessly. In that case, everyone who opened packs would still benefit because I'm sure many people still had some good pulls and will get good pulls in the replacement packs even if they don't pull Kelce.
Even giving the 96 to everyone isn't a good solution because it would be a slap in the face to anyone who spent 160K training on the one in the store. Not really sure what they'll end up doing, but they really need to be much more careful, pay closer attention, and have better communication between teams when announcing and releasing cards like this one.
