so defense is easier for you, how is that better competition?

SportsPerson94 said:You can't have a good defense in this game unless you use the bullshit you told me and that's not how it should be. I'm not complaining, it's the truth.
Even if you pick the right defense, you get fucked by a guy catching the ball in between 3 defenders, players not reacting to the ball, guys getting the ball thrown through their body, or just a bad animation. The game was obviously designed so casuals and younger people can jump on and not feel lost.
If i'm trying to play actual football, why should i be punished with all the bullshit? If you're in dollar and i go into a power formation, why the hell am i the one that gets beat? I have a few guys with 98 man, why do they get burned all the time on a slant? Why don't my zones react? It's not about me being bad, i'm a decent player but the game needs to be torn down and rebuilt with a legit physics engine and no abilities. EA has destroyed the game enough
I honestly don’t know what to tell you other than it’s probably not the formation, it’s probably the shell you’re in. Lots of formations on D are viable but certain ones have better pressure or coverage than others

I switch it up. I use cover 3, cover 4, man blitzes, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Dollar shouldn't be a defense that people stay in tho, it's a pass defense that gets pressure and stops the run lol

I agree 100% that dollar shouldn’t be able to be an every down formation. There’s a few runs that you can pop against it, but if they have an inside stuff you’re dead. Good news is because it’s a weak box the AI doesn’t adapt to regular runs

That's my main issue. I really shouldn't have to run defenses like that in order to get stops. I have 99 zone and man all over the field and my players were better with 89 zone and man
This is the year of bend, but don't break defense. Your average player has no problem moving the ball between the 20s, but a lot of players freeze in the red zone.
The key to slowing bunch is manning up the 2 inside slots, with a deep shell behind it. Shade down & outside. User covers middle, and let them dink and dunk. A good ole' Mable can work if the spam Z spot.
In the RZ, I go to 3-4 Odd with 4 Lurk Artist. Strong against the run, and clogs up passing lanes. Cover 1 robber works against the RPOs.

99 zone and man doesn’t help if you’re running the wrong zones and shading man wrong, is my point

^^^ this. I like to man up the runningback too, but if you send heat you usually won’t have to

What i mean is that they don't react the way they should regardless.
Also, while we are on the topic of shading. If i shade underneath or outsidr or whatever, how do i know it's working?

I agree that most players (80% ?) have moved to the current gen version and this includes literally all of the comp players and streamers.
But it's an inferior game if you prefer a style of play where usering and strong defense is the key to winning. A lot of players who have no desire to compete in MCS tournaments stayed on the old gen version are are really good at that style of play.
On the current gen version... there is no real defense against good offensive players... period. Winning usually comes down to who got the most dice rolls or who just made a careless mistake. This is why games with two good players are usually shootouts. Some people like that style and that's fine but it's not for me.
You can't deny that EA has been trying to make the game more appealing to beginners and casual players for years now. This is why DBs drop so many interceptions (even with Pick Artist)... and linebackers (until they added Lurk Artist) haven't animated since MUT Master Ryan Shazier in M19. Hitsticks rarely cause fumbles and receivers hang onto passes that should be broken up. Little Timmy needs to stay in games as long as possible.
Plus... the addition of more and more gimmicks... like the tackle battle animations and glitchy onside kicks... and the endless variety of showboating celebrations... all intended to appeal to kids. Again, this is fine if that's what you prefer.

With zone it will change any flat to hard flats if you shade underneath. with man it will change like how the DBs will run in comparison to the route - shading inside guards crossers but corners will kill, outside the opposite. Shading underneath and pressing will have your corners press rating compete with the receivers release (a stat which ea keeps hidden for no good reason but you can find on mutgg). Shading overtop turns hard flats and soft squats to clouds and seam flats and quarter flats to curl flats. For the most part the blue zones are better than the purple ones, but if you wanna Mable you need to use both. Mable in madden is different from the Saban terminology. In saban it means a man assignment but when madden players refer to it it’s a deep flat zone and a shallow flat zone to guard the whole sideline

again, the game with more skilled opponents is the one I wanna play. just about anyone in this thread can beat little Timmy, but you’re right that a good Offensive player is hard to stop. I just want to have good competition and on old gen I was running out of skilled opponents, a problem I’m sure you’re having, based on this conversation you definitely know what you’re talking about. Early new gen was fun before the elo caught up tho, lol
SportsPerson94 said:Yea, the meta shit that i really don't want to deal with. I rather keep losing than use a defense 95% of the community uses
facts! i was constantly playing gun bunch / gun bumch offset / tight / dollar / 6-1 guys bro. it got repetitive
You gotta figure out how to pressure them with 5. Need the rest to cover the go to routes. Double Mable with a deep half over the top on the bunch side. Man up the back side. Put the fs on an inside deep. User over the middle and hope the pressure gets there. If your only sending 3 or 4. You're gonna get diced.

Thanks for the info dude. When i shade, how do i make sure it's not shaded for the next play? Like if i shade underneath, how do i make it regular? Sometimes when i shade underneath for example, it will be like, grayed out if that makes sense
