Guard pulls and if you bang turbo right away, you either beat him to the hole (where someone is likely waiting) or you end up running into him as he's trying to get there lol. Now my guards are fast, and still I hold off on turbo until I'm through the hole (or hitting the edge). Setting up your blocks has turned into a big part of effectively running, and that's hard to do if you're turboing right away.
