They have a compensation (financial) agreement with with NFLPA for the rights to every single current and most former players (including legends).NFL players are not compensated directly from EA.
So, any player mentioned here that EA "doesn't or may not have the rights to", retired or not, is not accurate and EA can include in the game, so long as they're in the NFLPA.
They have all players' NIL rights through the NFLPA deal and individual players are not paid directly.
For example: EA doesn't call Randy Moss and ask him how much money he wants for EA to use his NIL in Madden. They already have those rights through the deal with the NFLPA, which represents every single current and former player in the financial discussions and deal with the EA Sports.
Basically, the NFLPA is the agent for all of the current and former NFL players for their NIL for Madden as long as they're a member of the NFLPA.
And just for knowledge, the teams logos and such, goes through the deal with the NFL, not the NFLPA. It's a seperate deal. The coaches also have a seperate deal with EA Sports through the NFLCA (NFL Coaches Association). This is why Bill Belichick isn't in Madden. He is not member of the NFLCA.
I am mentioning this because EA can make MOST any player a card that they want. Retired or not. Legend or not. Its already paid for in the contract deal with the NFLPA.
FYI: NFLPA is the National Football League Players Association (the players union).
So, when EA isn't introducing new cards or names? Its usually not because they dont have the rights. They just decided not to give that player a card or include them in the game.
I really couldn't tell you the small list of current and former players that are not a part of the NFLPA. Its small. If you see an authentic NFL jersey for a certain player, they're in the NFLPA.
Sounds legit, you happen to be in law?

Man, I thought it was just me not really liking any of the RBs this year. Nice to hear I'm not the only one. My favorite this year was Icky Shuffle. What's yours?

Honestly this is the truth, It works fine for me and I'm happy with it and always looking to upgrade to a better player. But I also don't spend more than 1 or 2 hours a day on this game. I can't even comprehend how a adult would spend thier whole da…

You meant 400k right? I justwanna confirm
Is there any screenshots of these cards or anything anyone can post or link?

Out of curiosity what would those 4 be? I'm guessing Kelce C is one, idk what the others could be.

I realize not everyone has wasted a ~thousand hours of their life on Madden/MUT, but i'd love to hear some suggestions on how we can try and teach folks the basics -- i.e. how truly vital and important abilities are. Liek, at this point I try not to get hung up on any type of name recognition (but it can be difficult with our favorite teams & players) and i'm simply matching up abilities to areas of the field. I know my scheme, i know how i prefer to play the game and what works well where, but i'm struggling to figure out an easy and direct way to communicate this level of information to others. Possibly a me problem, i dunno.
This was an absolutely excellent comment / summary, with fantastic examples to get your point(s) across about how and why these could become truly elite. Feels liek a mirror image of MUTmas, where EA dropped a small handful of truly amazing cards, but went full Grinch, making them exceedingly rare. Oof. Might finally move the meta forward, but i won't hold my breathe. I'm thrilled my SB hybrid theme team is still relevant.
I respect the want to educate people on the nuances of this game but I feel it'd be a waste of your time. We/They either are in the know of the state of the game or:
Too hard headed
Don't care
It's too complicated
I can feel all 3 really, com…

If it is cool but I don't think they'd use this opportunity to do any current players, I'd bet it's all old retired legends players
Why does man play way better for me? I like and want to use zone but by far my D does better in man...I run a lot of 3-4 and 4-3 and nickel. I'm not really a strategic player by any means either. I just put the best player I can get or afford and se…
May be a stupid question but, do you have to do these everyday or you miss out on it? Or can you wait till say like Saturday and do them all at once?

I'm stubborn or delusional enough to not rage-quit most of the time, few things are as gratifying as those come from behind victories. Super impressive.
Are you me lol, sounds exactly like my games! Oh I like it when a kid thanks for a good game, he gets so much more respect from me. It's so annoying hearing anyone other than a friend talking during a game, I don't use a mic so don't talk to me lol
