Re: oop

I think the 99 Too Tall CB was meant to counter the Ed Too Tall WR, that way people who spend money on the game can't just chuck the ball up to their 6'9 receiver and expect the to come down with it every time.

And I agree that EA went kinda crazy…
mvandor said:Your confession confirming my view is appreciated. Of course MUT involves a significant fantasy aspect, however, these cards don't represent cartoon characters, they represent real people. MUT would be just as successful if they attempted to maintain a reasonable level of realism. Would it break your heart if you played a gold 99 Ronnie Lott at SS instead of an exaggerated Taylor Mays? No. I'm sure it wouldn't. I doubt your crowd would feel deprived at all if Peyton Manning's gold 99 card was still slow as he was IRL. There seems to be some seduction with the OOP's that EA went crazy with this year, I can understand the draw of a hokey as hell 6'9" Too Tall as a gold 99 CB with 99 SPD/ACC/AGI. But you might as well drop a Godzilla card if you're gonna stretch reality that far.
Re: oop

REALISM huh? Is it realistic when you put two guys who played 60 years apart on the same team? That's what I thought. I might not have played football IRL or know a lot about NFL history, but I at least have common sense.

Plus, "my crowd" makes up …
mvandor said:You two didn't answer my questions.
Frankly, I'm betting you guys never played IRL at any serious level and know little to nothing about NFL history. That's all well and good but for the record MUT USED TO BE much more realistic. The top cards were largely HOF players not nobodies. But clearly EA has decided to cater to what I call "gamer boyz" like you guys that all you care about is how a top card plays, not if it is reasonably realistic. Betting you guys loved the fictitious Leon Sandcastle whack cards from a few years ago.
What I would like to see personally is a MUT that tries to respect reality so guys like me can use older legends in building a more realistic team. Obviously OOP cards EA drops undermine that, as do things like treating washouts like Taylor Mays as better than HOF'ers. CFM does nothing for a guy like me that wants to use legends in team building but reasonably realistic so. I mean should Johnny Unitas, the ultimate statue QB, have 90 SPD (on my team)? Uh, no.
Bottom line is EA has decided to cater to your crowd and stiff mine, so I can only assume my views are in the minority. But they will lose the significant $ I spend each year so let's see if the group they are catering to takes up that slack. Will be interesting.
Re: friday the 13!!!!!!!!!! prepare for bad luck
Re: oop

Ultimate Team isn't supposed to be realistic, they have other game modes for that like Franchise and Exhibition. The reason they do OOP in ultimate team is because it gives us cards that are funny and good to play with (like 300 lb DTs or O linemen …
mvandor said:If you are pro-OP tell me if you ever played football IRL, how much of a real NFL fan you are, how much history of the league you know. Because I played through JC and am a huge fan of the NFL and its history. And 99% of the over the top OOP garbage EA dropped this year is so unrealistic as to be in NFL Blitz territory. If that is the direction EA is going they just lost one of their big spenders because I have zero interest in a game that puts nobodies over HOF players and drops OOP cards that are blatantly unrealistic like a Too Tall CB.
It is unfortunate there are no choices for an NFL game. If EA did MLB they'd give Bob Ueker a gold 99 as a pitcher and Babe Ruth a 90 as a catcher.
