Lol

Kinda weird to say this, but it's refreshing when someone punts the ball. Shows you that they're confident in their defensive scheme and are in the game for the long run.

Glad you're having fun with your 49ers TT! Also glad to hear Maniac is …
peatrick said:I love when I match up against someone who knows how to have fun and play the game the way it was supposed to be played: someone who mixes up their formations and tries a couple interesting plays here and there. I love the challenge.
On the other hand, I make it my mission in H2H to completely destroy someone who runs the same play over and over again. Just to prove a point.
Oh this, holy sh*t, this this THIS! <3 \<3 \<3
I try not to be toxic to anyone, however i've been baited by a few late night sessions where kids will run the same play over and over and then talk trash the 1 out of 10 deep balls they get lucky on, or folks that are really impressed with their "ability" to run Quadfather smash over and over. Thankfully I'm not having to waste a ton of AP on Secure Tackler at the moment, but for a couple/few weeks that was almost a requirement on multiple players. These days, i'm hoping to just get lucky and use Fred Warner's Enforcer ability to knock folks down, but that can be a bit of a high risk endeavor. I'm still fairly green and quite bad at the game, but learning a lot, having SO much fun running 50/50 49ers TT and learning and tinkering with new cards and abilities. Being able to slide Maniac into my left end pass rusher, in place of Tank (that i sadly cannot justify, nor afford at the moment) was fun last evening, finally starting to generate a little more pressure. Just went back to Milk Man (96 OVR) on the right end, but i'm curious if folks are having success running all three with abilities engaged; Tank, Maniac & Milk Man.
A kid called me "weird" last night, because i told him he was one of the better players i've faced in recent memory, he would punt on 4th and long, he would mix up plays based on actual gameplay scenarios and not just spam the same corner route over and over and over and over... i can be guilty of often running the same couple/few plays on defense, but i have built my team in a very specific manner, trying to maximize those abilities, etc.

Re: What OVR is considered "good" at this point?

Completely agree. And honestly, it's a video game so it's about having fun. For example, Joe Shiesty was a perfectly good QB on my Steelers TT, but I wanted to have more fun so I spent a little extra cash to get enough coins for Michael Vick and hav…
peatrick said:100% this. I'm embarrassed to admit that i've become part of the problem (participating in pay to win game mechanics), but it's always a HUGE W when EA drops new players, for free, that are basically best at their position, such as the Gronk card, the new Calvin Johnson (once we get him fully upgraded), two version of John Madden, etc. All the Competitive Field Pass (level 200?) rewards lately are basically starters on all but extremely high end teams. That 6'4" Nahshon Wright DB played absolute lights-out for me on the edge not even a ~month ago. Could be worse, but yeah if you're even remotely decent at the game and have been keeping up with your various Field Passes, most folks should be able to field a somewhat competitive team. I hate to suggest that anyone invest more real dollars into the game, however those theme team pack drops that came out a while back are a great foundation for new players to get up to speed. I spent month trying to collect a 49ers theme team, only to come up WELL short. YMMV, please don't feel compelled to pump cash into P2W cards.
Ultimately, cards (and abilities, specifically) DO matter... a lot. However, most folks (<10%) aren't even confident how to lay out their ability stack, nor how to truly team build to achieve the best results from their existing roster. There's a LOT to learn, it's overwhelming as a somewhat new player, but having a blast. Often times the team building is as much, if not more fun than the gameplay. Had a few really competitive and fun games recently, but there's far more toxic kids who will ultimately rage quit after they throw their first quarter pick. I don't think i can even count the number of 0-0 ties i've won, from kids with 99 OVR Chiefs TT, Mahomes MVP, etc.
EDIT: My apologies for ranting and raving and carrying on, neglected to answer OP's question -- i'd say right now that 97 would be considered above average, however do not stress over that team rating, turns out, it's basically meaningless and just a way to help convey progress, or where we're at in the current stage in the game. For example, i'm running PS2 TOTY out of position at SS, because of his ability stack and slid Derwin James down to CB2, again... based off the specific ability stack(s). PS2 is "only" a 91 OVR at the Safety position, however his abilities and stats don't actually change. This was HUGE pro-tip i received from the community, it's paying dividends.
