Boyd was a fifth round draft pick (from Boston College) in 1995 and he was selected by the Detroit Lions, whom he spent the entirety of career with.
He retired in May 2002, having only playing in 4 games in 2001 due to chronic back pain.
He made the Pro Bowl in 1999 and 2000 (he was also named to the Second-Team All Pro team in the latter year).
There is still one question left to answer: Why did EA choose to give him an All Madden card?
The reason is simple. He was named to the 1999 All Madden team.
So there you have it, this is why Stephen Boyd received a 91 OVR All Madden Champion card.

But thats the exact thing you nailed on the head. D is boring but not for the right reasons, its the you cant kill people anymore with insane tackles and flying catches anymore. You dont do a basic ass wrap tackle, youre getting flagged, especially on QBs.
Imagine the Legion of Boom, The 70s Steelers, the 85 Bears... Hell even the most recent 2002 Ravens or 07-09 Steelers. They would get flagged for everything.
