Patrick Mahomes Is The Most Overrated Player In The NFL

Hear me out on this.

Since taking over as the Chiefs starter, Mahomes has had 53 interceptions called back by penalty, the next closest in that span is Josh Allen with 7.

That alone is enough if you ask me. The NFL is constantly propping him up and giving him (and his team) the benefit of the doubt. Anyone else remember when KC played Cincy I think last year, and the Chiefs failed on a 3rd and long, and got 3 redoes due to penalties that quite obviously never happened.

Point is, Mahomes has had the NFL, refs, and media on his side since day 1. I don't doubt that he is a talented player, but he is not one of the GOATs, as it seems most everyone wants to say.

That’s an interesting stat line. However, I think it would be important to consider multiple factors there. With Patrick Mahomes, his play style is built around improvisation and extending plays. Most DBs don’t train to cover a receiver for that long, so it‘s likely that many of the calls are legitimate.

You would have to go back and watch every single one of those overturned interceptions to determine whether it was the right call.

Valid point. That number still seems a little inflated to me though.

honestly, Patrick Mahomes is good, but instead of the refs favoring Tom Brady, now they're favoring him, and there were a lot of calls made in his favor. For example, the CJ gardener-johnson call cost the Eagles the Super Bowl last year. it was clean but then Mahomes made a huge deal out of it and the refs called it.

That is another thing i dislike about mahomes, he's a massive complainer.

I totally agree, he just isn't up to the hype, he had worse stats than Wilson this year with refs on his side calling back INTs. It's impressive what KC has done, but 3 TDs in the last SB were the greatest play calls by andy reed making wide open receievers

I'm sorry but I need a source on this. Mahomes has thrown 63 picks in his career. We are saying that he's truly thrown 53 more? I have seen no signifcant evidence to support that and the only "evidence" I've seen from it is 1 tweet from an unverified source, with "Vegas" in his bio, so a rival fan.

I get it, Mahomes is the "new Brady" for the league and the guy that everyone wants to hate on. That's fine. I think getting realistic stats also makes sense for your arguments.

I feel that this won't be taken too well. I think Patrick Mahomes is perfectly rated or (here we go) under rated. Hear me out, and keep mind I am an eagles fan who is a victim of his "Mahomying". The media glazes this man more than a half dozen of donuts and when I hear about the chiefs when I'm watching a bills eagles game pisses me off. He gets jammed down everyone's throats whether they like it or not... But its not like this is Mahomes doing it himself. I think the media turns him into the monster everyone sees him as. If you just look at him as a football player, there is no way you could see him as anything other than the best in the league. He may not have a cannon like Josh or run like Lamar but he has an IT factor no one else in the league could think of having, I mean he plays football like he's tossing it around at Thanksgiving and just comes alive when you need him most. Now don't get me wrong sometimes the it factor is the refs. As an Eagles fan I have the most right to talk about Mahomes and the damn refs, as far as the Superbowl goes, technically, TECHNICALLY. It was PI but I mean come on you are handing them the game for a pass 10 feet over his head but either way would Jalen have gotten down field in time? God knows. But as far as this year the ref ball dropped drastically having close penalty numbers to the Lions eagles and dolphins. Overall I personally think Mahomes is an amazing player, the best QB in the league and a future all time great who is over hated and under rated from the media shoving him down our throats. If Tony Romo says "That looked a little Mahomey" one more time though I'm going to lose it.
