In a recent interview, Marino claimed that in today's NFL, he could pass for 6000 yards, do y'all think he could?

I mean, QBs these days can hit 5k in a great year, and Marino hit 5k back in the days where just about any hit was legal, in today's league where you can barely touch the qb, I think he could do it.
If he could have thrown for 6k, he would have hit 6k. What today allows QBs to pass further? You can't hit QBs like you could back then, but that doesn't prevent people from tackling the QB today or giving them more time to pass. I don't see much that would allow QBs to pass for more yards now. Marino averaged 253.6 yards per game. He only threw for 5k yards once, in 1984. In 1984, the QB average was 205.6 yards per game. In 2022 it was 218 yards. It's not that big of an increase. Certainly nothing that would get him a 20% increase in his best season ever.

Thanks for putting together some metrics, with those in mind, I don't think he could quite touch 6k, but he probably could hit at or around Manning's record, especially if he was on today's dolphins with hill and waddle in a 17 game schedule
In a 20-game season, maybe.
Give him Jefferson, Tyreek, Chase, and Kelce as targets and he’ll be golden. 😉
