Ive always just controlled my D-line and gone for sacks but as ive gotten better over the years ive realized that the real skill gap comes with being able to user but im always finding myself getting beat and destroyed everytime. Anyone have any tips?
The only way to get better is to practice. Just stop usering the d line all together. Go into the event h2h and just keep messing around until you feel more comfortable. Who cares if you lose 10 games in a row.
Bad eye hand coordination
Same bro, i cant do it worth a damn.
Its just like practice makes perfect. Hand to eye comes with muscle memory. On top of the fact Defense is hard in this game. My sugestion woujld be choose a middle linbacker to user
My tips:
User your sub lb or mlb every play, even in solos.
Always hold strafe, (L2/LT) at the start of the play. Do not sprint, your goal should just be to strafe the middle of the field and learn how to read route combos your opponent is sending.
You can sprint and release strafe when you want to commit to a route. Only do this when you're certain no other route is coming into your zone of responsibility.
Play under with your user when you have help over the top and learn how far under you can be while still jumping post routes or streaks, takes practice.
If you don't have help over top and your opponent is making you decided between a drag and a dig, you usually want to take away the deeper route, give them underneath all day and make them work their way up the field instead of giving up the big play.
Once you have a feel for usering, you can move to more advanced usering involving switch stick instead of chasing routes across the field and usering your safeties instead of just the middle of the field sublb or mlb.
that used to be back in madden 16, nowadays i’d say my user is pretty top tier that i’ve made it my PSN so my opps hold me to it lol
my tips:
1. Maybe the most important step, get yourself a user card who fits the bill. Important stats here are speed first and foremost, right now you want a 87 speed plus user… then look for stats like COD, AGI and height. E.g Pola Mao, Isaiah Simmons are great users as they are tall and can move
2. Play your user as if you’re on offence. Who looks open? move to them. Scan the field as you follow the corner, drag or post. Has someone else become wide open due to your user? If so, and you’re user is within close range, switch the route coverage. e.g. you’re covering a drag going left, and you see a receiver slanting right crossing over. Your Opp is gonna think “he’s left my slant open” so switch to the slant mid coverage. my favourite here is when people run mesh and i follow a drag and their curl route comes wide open and i leave it open to bait it for a quick user reposition. samw with whips, i’ll follow the heavy side and then cut to the weak side as they always think it’s gonna be naked
3. if you’re scanning the field and someone’s wide open on the other side of the field, this is when switch sticking comes into play. I am constantly watching every other route while covering one or two with my user… a good player won’t target your user so you have to get creative
4. with your user, try give the route some space. this allows two things, a, better chance of a lurk as your opponent may think it’s not entirely covered. b, the ability to switch easier to a high/low concept. you can almost blanket both of them if you give a 5 yard cushion. they throw short, you undercut. they throw over, your 5 yard blanket with a 6’3” user should pick that off
5. do not hold triangle until the balls thrown. or you will drop it
Credentials 🤣: i am 7th in Pola-mao’s INT stats, had him as my user, bought maybe 2-3 weeks after he was released and have switched and been using Simmons since he released, so those 43 picks were in a small ish timeframe
Sometimes u just don’t got it like that my G
Keeping in mind I'm bad...but...what is try and pick plays where my user has no direct coverage responsibility...I tend to use a Sub LB (or LB) and if possible pick plays where my user is supposed to blitz...I tend to come in like I'm blitzing and then loop out to cover the middle of the field and or double cover if I notice a trend (route or receiver)...I also use cover 1 or 2 M2M...and again I would user the SLB or Safety that is in zone (I prefer the safety for this one)...I stay mindful of my zone of responsibility, but again look for to help if someone is getting burnt. But...as noted...I'm bad and this may in part explain that.
I user my DT quite a bit. Not for rushing QB, but I go back in coverage. Sapp has more int. Then Urlacher. It's so much fun and players don't expect it.
It's not you, usering is just super difficult and it gets worse every year. If you jump the route you don't animate, if you are behind the receiver you get agged, if you are too close to the receiver you get called for PI.
