I was intrigued by maye at first but now that I see his full ability stack I have no interest. probably for the best since his shelf life wont be as long. I guess ill have BTJ up top and krause in the box.

It's THE best QB in the entire game, with end-game ability stack, which just happens to be the most important position in all of sports. No DB is going to improve or impact your squad as much as an elite QB.
It's your team, choose whoever tickles your fancy, but I believe your logic may be a bit flawed, or at the very least, short-sighted. Think and look forwards, not backwards. DBs will get better. We're basically at peak endgame for QB play. As long as stats remain capped at 99.
Or perhaps I'm missing something entirely, I'm genuinely interested in spending the next week flushing out this topic with the community. Both are fantastic cards, clearly best in their respective positions.
My logic works for me but it’s fine for others. If you want Drake Maye…go for it. He looks good to you and to others I’m sure but I know A new “best QB“ comes every other week. Vick is coming for combine and TOTY is right around the corner which may make some feel remorse for getting Maye if they get a similar or better stack. To me Thomas offers more value because of all the spots you could put him in. Worst case scenario he is a special teams demon. Once you want a new QB though Maye isn’t seeing the field.
And technically Drake Maye isn’t the best card in the game because he isn’t available until March 3rd. So once again not a bad card, but I know for me Thomas is the better option.

Fantastic points thank you for the detailed response and supporting your own logic. I'm glad I have a full week to mull this over in my head... Vick's release is great and all and he's super fast, will almost certainly get some crazy abilities (and may potentially boost other players on the squad, +1 SPD / +1 ACC), but nothing compares with that Baker Mayfield release, although Josh Allen is a close second -- everything else feels distant 3rd to me, but probably Jayden and Vick would be there.
i was taking Brian Thomas Jr and still will, but he may be a back up already. SS Isaiah Simmons incoming for combine…
probably be my sub LB user so BTJ can still play, but he’ll be benched for 3-4/6-1 sets

Bo Nix is also supposedly getting a card for the combine promo as well and that could end up being one of those sneaky good cards if he gets a unique stack. And you provng my point a bit with your last statement. If Josh Allen wins in the TOTY voting since you like his release that much and gets a similar or better stack than Maye wouldn't that instantly make Maye your back-up that never sees the field? That is where my mind as it when it comes to these "take your pick" free BND cards. How long is this card even going to see the field before they get benched. That's why I personally consider, for me, Thomas the hands down winner. Even if I put him at back up he wll at minimum be a special teams player that I can trust to make tackles. I seriously doubt this will be the last QB that gets ANY team chem as well. Having said all of that though, I wouldn't consider taking Maye a dumb choice as it is a GREAT free option if you are hurting at QB and want to save the coins. Both are great free cards to have in your line-up just pick the one you feel will give you the most out of your games.
do you get one from the twitch stream on the 3rd if so and you can do the set it doesn't matter because youll get both and if there is one from the twitch stream then I cant make the set so Im taking BTJ but if thats not what you get then I'll just live with what i have and what I get in the future.

Appreciate you helping here by playing Devil's Advocate, or simply stating YOUR logic and team building philosophy. All very solid, although i've been keeping the 93 Zero Chill Baker around as my emergency QB... just for giggles.
I recently down or side-graded from Josh (97 LTD) to his 96 OVR regular set card. Only cost an additional 1AP and really didn't have to give up much of anything... earned 2M+ coins in the process, so win win win as far as i'm concerned. As i stated, when it comes to pure QB Release styles, it's Baker, Josh... then everyone else. Although i only briefly used the Bryce Young (who i think may have the same/similar release as the Bo Nix card you pointed out), but it was very early on in the season, back when i barely understood the new QB Release naming conventions, let alone what my personal preferences were, nor the objectively "best" QB Release style.
How or what/where would you rate that Bo Nix, when directly compared with Baker and Josh? Guess i could try a Russell Wilson, for giggles. I still hold out hope that we'll see a Joe Montana Ultimate Legends, with Dots as a baked on, passive ability. I don't necessarily want or need the Dots, but it's gotta be hella nice for high point passes and such. And Joe's buttery smooth, unique QB Release (Traditional 1) is a personal favorite, from Madden 24 -- i thought it was even better than the widely regarded "best" (Trad4, Lamar release?) from last season.
Extremely glad i have a week to mull this over. Tough choices, for sure. I know it's silly to take a BND QB, i made that mistake (knowing full well at the time it was a mistake) to grab Jeff Garcia as my bridge QB, to get me through once Zero Chill boosts all melted away, back on JAN9th. Little did i know (at the time) that i'd quickly be back to using those Zero Chill cards and happily paying full retail price for ability stack. I feel kind of the same about the potential of Drake Maye. Sure there will be some baked on passive X-factors as abilities (Omaha is stupid overpowered), but beyond that, it'll require some creative and redundant stacking of discounted ability buckets to make a better QB. Or i simply lack the knowledge and creativity to envision just how much better these cards can get. With 13AP on Offense, i'm certainly not hurting for Ability Points. Making additional discounts of minimal value.

You have to also remember EA has ended up lowering the AP amount in previous years. They do this to sell multi 0 AP end game cards.

I also just saw on Mutleaks the boosts OOP Dontari Poe gives suggests it is a QB card. Lol.
Baker was my favorite QB during Zero Chill. I legit only moved on because well theme team reasons. Now we're getting baker release with an ability stack to work with plus 32 Team chems. I'd rather be locked into a QB that I can use the rest of the year than a FS that "might" not play better than rocket Ronnie or even a future FS that fits my scheme.

Those uhhh "fun" cards typically get stuck with Over the Top 1... i struggled with Over the Top 7 (on Jeff Garcia), doubt i could go backwards, that's the objectively worst QB Release style. Thankfully all are at least usable this year, but if i can't get quick passes out against heavy pressure, it's kind of a deal breaker for me.

I know what you mean. I substituted ZC Baker with no abilities for my 99 Hurts fully loaded (GS/SLE/TANK/MT/X factor run-gun) and really could not tell the difference between the 2 when it came to throwing. My only hesitancy with getting the Drake card is that it does not have Tank (or Truzz) and I really like the unstoppable Run&Gun XF. I wish it was easier to switch between QBs between each play although I do not run that often with the QB.

I was actually just mentioning that to emphasize my point of how other QB options can creep up on you fast like that if Poe is in fact an OOP QB instead of a FB. That would make it at least four new quarterbacks that are dropping by the time Maye does.
NickyRozay said:That's fair. I run a 40/40 Rams TT and just recently got off Baker to use Josh Allen. My problem with QBs is we just get so many of them in general and my TT is not a strict one where I have a Ram at every position. But yeah Drake could damn near be end game especially with so much AP on offense now.
Question and I’ve seen this before … how do you get 40/40 on your team? Or even 40/20 when I hit a player limit of 55 players? I don’t get it
