It's pretty obvious what the meta is - but what is considered not? Is it anything that's not those plays and adjustments exactly? Who here thinks they run off meta, and why is what you do different?

I'm running off meta because I get killed in head-to-head. I don't run cheese.

I don't think I run meta or cheese, but I don't get killed either. I'd say I average 11-6. What do you think is cheese?

11-6 is great if you're not following the simps in H2H. I learn everything myself and have a better user 90% of my games and would say I'm slightly above .500. I recognize you as an OG... keep plugging fuck being a youtube simp!

(I feel like I keep repeating myself about this because everyone asks.)
If you spam four or five plays that are effective despite the employment of actual football schemes and techniques that should but don't counter said spammed plays, it's cheese.
If you flip plays every down, definitely cheese.
If you spam hurry up, definitely cheese.
If I watch Brian Baldinger or other analysts describe how football works, and yet employing those tactics makes me worse, maybe it's EA's fault. But there are tactics and behaviors that cross the line of what is tolerable in this regard.
I would say off meta is non glitch plays, no motion glitches RPOs, stupid blitzes or glitchy defense. Also not abusing the same play formation or problem with the game.

I think me and you are in agreement. But do those who run the meta think they are calling glitch plays or abusing exploits, or that they are even running the meta to begin with?

How could they not know? RPO's and Cheat Motions are like the stars in Mario Brothers. The receiver and his blockers practically glow once the quarterback throws him the ball. If you are playing this game, you know that the results from the play are positively outsized. But I'm sure that in more than 99% of cases, these people pulled the scheme off the Internet. The term "meta" might not trickle down to them, but they can't help but notice that everyone is pulling the same junk on them.
It actually irritates me to talk about this. It's like posing the question regarding whether someone who takes from someone else something that doesn't belong to them, Do they know they're stealing?

I don't think they can not know. I ran 1 rpo play in I think 23 and I just couldn't stand it cause its not even fun. It wasn't even a meta one it's just it's stupid how I can consistently work without much brain power
At the beginning of the season, I was using mostly the Eagles/Dolphins playbook because I liked some of the motion plays, formations etc. and the mixing in of QB runs. Loved the Normal Y Off Close formation and the TE motion stuff. Now it's meta and everyone is using it and I don't want to anymore lol.
It kind of sucks...but also I know how to stop the Base plays most of the time because I've used it all year.
Now I kind of bounce around to Trips HB Weak and I like that new Pistol Doubles Hip formation a bit.
Whenever I see someone in Trips formation - I internally think - here we go. I have never watched a YouTube video to determine what offense I am going to run, but I have (actually mid-game) when I wanted to know how to stop someone who is spamming a play over and over. I played someone the other day - for the first time who motioned the same receiver out of the same formation and when the player came to the other side of the formation I could not get my player to pick him up - kept switching assignments (I know because I can see my defense assignment art). I ended up figuring it out and winning the game - thankfully. But it was the worst game I have ever played in head to head - as far as having fun. On offense, I recently figured out how to audible out of pistol formation into at least 3/4 of my playbook formations and their 4 available audibles. People may think that this is meta - but I came up with it. Also, I feel like people wait for me to choose an offensive play and let the computer pick their defense many times and this is a good way to combat that - which I think is cheese. Oh well, one man's cheese is another man's steak and potatoes.
Running the ball is not meta in Madden 25. Everyone else is spamming RPO, zig routes, and cheat motions. There are not enough toters in this madden because of insta-sheds and bad break tackle animations.. Also, the hit stick fumbles happen way too often.
On defense everyone is either using a loop blitz or mug blitz sending 6 or even 7 blitzers and pressing the DBs.

I run quite a bit, and have some nice play actions off it. It's crazy how dollar can stop the run, but if you stick with it and get the user moving wrong way you can have success.

Because I don't think they look at it the same way. I hear so much trash talk on the mic when someone squeaks out a victory after calling the most obvious glitch/cheese/exploits all game. I get the impresion most people I play think Im not good at the game because I'm not running the same gun bunch underneath route combinations they are.
