I honestly cannot even remember which specific year/platform or version.  I recall going to a friend's house, who had it for Sega Genesis, in the early 90s... granted, i was still playing Tecmo Superbowl or Play Action football on the 8-bit NES.  I don't think any of these games even had an NFL license back then, it was liek still generic city team names.

First actual madden I knew what I was doing was 17

John Madden Football. I was over at my Dad's a week ago. The receipt from WaldenSoftware was in the box. I hadn't realized it was in 1992 when we purchased it. That means it was competing for attention with Street Fighter II Championship Edition. Steve Young throwing Hadokens. What a time.

I can’t remember exactly which one but it would’ve been on Sega Genesis in the mid 90’s. We played Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl on NES before we got the Sega.
