Wake up guys

I genuinely don’t understand how a company as massive, profitable, and supposedly “respected” as EA Sports can release Madden year after year and somehow make it worse every single time. And the worst part? We all fall for it. The content gets lazier, core Ultimate Team features disappear, the divide of Madden community players for not releasing specific TT players every week, and on major promo days the servers can’t even handle the traffic.

And look, I know I’m going to get hate for saying this, or be hit with the classic “Then don’t play the game.” But that’s exactly the problem. People don’t realize that their experience could be so much better if the community stopped letting EA walk all over them, taking advantage of their loyalty, and monopolizing the market with zero accountability.

What makes it even more absurd is that Madden has turned into a game where spending money is REQUIRED to be competitive. There should never be a video game, especially a sports game, that demands you spend real money just to keep up. You can spend $500 one week, only for the players you get to be outdated in a month. Why can’t devoted, consistent players earn access to top-tier cards through gameplay? Why are the best players hidden behind paywalls that only wealthier users can realistically afford? It’s completely backwards.

Recently Ive seen people are trying to open their Blitz packs, and EA still fails to deliver what customers PAID FOR. That’s literally theft! And you guys think it’s okay? They know they can get away with it, because as long as there’s even the illusion of a competitive edge, people will keep buying. It’s insulting.

I’ve never played another game that functions as poorly as Madden. The glitches, the exploits, the random errors, it never ends. Ten years ago, it was a simple, fun football game. Now it’s a blatant cash grab targeting fans who think buying better players will automatically translate to more wins. Spoiler: it won’t. You can spend thousands and still lose to an 85 overall team because the game just doesn’t work.

I’ve played Madden since Madden 13, but after this year, I’m done. EA should not be allowed to keep getting away with this. And you guys should all feel the same way.

As long as they continue to cater to the whales and the comp scene, this game will not flourish like it did in years past

It’s f’d up. As a kid growing up with no money, I LOVED Madden. You didn’t have to put your credit card info in to truly have fun. Ultimate Team wasn’t meta based and wasn’t built on TTs or money plays. Its a deep dark hole people will fall down into that you can’t escape because of the dopamine response to opening packs. Spend the money your spending on packs to go on a nice trip, get yourself some new clothes, take your parents out to dinner. Don’t keep feeding a multi-billion dollar corporation to release garbage every year.

It was decent when MUThead was a thing, because at least you could use MHC to transfer SOME value between games. but nope they had to kill the trade block because we enjoyed it

That last sentence perfectly summarizes the mentality of too many (removed adjective) people these days. Just because you don't like the way things are doesn't mean everyone needs to agree with you, and people who disagree with you are not automatically wrong.

You dont have to play Ultimate Team ya know. Its not the whole game. I get it but if you cant get these players now then you simply have to wait. Not everyone should get the new shiny cards right away.

You say you have to spend money to be competitive but then later say you can spend thousands and still lose to a lesser team.   

I lean towards the latter being more true than the former.   You do need to spend time though if you want to keep up and it's best to not get hung up on chasing ovr that way you can avoid the conflicting feelings you're having with the game. 

Blitz is always a spenders promo, I mostly ignore the store other than to see what I should snipe based on refreshed offers.

That mindset is exactly what’s wrong with MUT players nowadays. Normalizing spending thousands of dollars on a video game because everyone else does it. Thats not how Madden used to be, and that’s not how it should be today. You’re ridiculous if you think it’s okay for a company to monopolize a football video game market just to expect people to suck it up and get force fed the garbage EA serves us. Saying “if you don’t like it, then don’t play” isn’t fair to all the OG players who relied on grinding full-game solos to get the best players in the game, not mommy’s credit card.

You don’t need to spend money to play this game. It’s definitely easier to spend money but you can grind and still compete. I haven’t spent money since August and I have like 25-30 million. It’s either time or money. Pick your poison. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. This year isn’t any different than the last 5 years, you shouldn’t be surprised

I understand that. But it’s an endless cycle casual players can’t escape. New cards come out and they’re too expensive, so you have to wait months to be able to get it. By then, it’s outdated and you’re always stuck with a crappy team compared to everyone else. I get what you’re saying, but to have the only way you can make coins and get solid rewards in this game, you HAVE to play online. And if you don’t have those “shiny new cards” online? You’ll get ran through and never win. Like I said, it’s an endless cycle NMS can’t get out of.

To make that kind of coin for someone with a full-time job and a simple home life, it’s impossible. I’m not wasting all the free time I have in life sniping on the AH or doing sets, nor am I going to use the hard-earned money I get on a packs (that have insulting odds to pull top cards) for video game after I’ve already purchased it. Micro transactions have killed the way we view videos games now and it’s disgusting, it’s corporate greed at its finest. And you’re okay with that? Spending more time building up your coins rather than actually playing.

For me its one of those ( it is what it is ) situations. I choose to play the game so i choose to deal with what EA presents with the new content and how to acquire it. I 100% understand your frustration. They made this one a little confusing starting up but with new content like this we have to be patient because we know how ea is. They drop the ball more than CD.

I own a small landscape business and work 40-50 hours a week and I still manage to make coins every week. It’s a lot easier when you can win superbowls in the legend division and win the event token every week. That right there is like a million coins a week with only 1-2 hours of playing a day, you just have to be decent at the game. Like I said pick your poison, time or money. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

If I was 10 years younger I might agree with you. I used to do exactly what you are talking about to get the best players back in the day when I was younger. But guess what? I dont have 4 hours per day to grind challenges and shit in order to unlock every player in the game. I barely have time to jump on for 2-3 games per day. If I didnt have the option to drop $150 every couple of weeks to keep my team top tier, i literally wouldn't play. At 34 yeara old I have responsibilites. I dont have time to "grind" fucking challenges against the CPU. That doesn't make me wrong. Plus it's not like you can't buy any player you want off the AH with coins, right? You just have to put the hours in and earn the coins. Sounds like you dont want to do that. Sounds like you used to do it, just like I did when I was younger. 

What you are really mad about is that people who don't have time to play a video game all day long have a pathway to have a better team than you by spending more money.
