I know it’s kinda late in the MUT cycle but I still see a lot of misinformation in comments and stuff so I wanted to share some tips that might be helpful for players that may not have much experience.

1. Blitz your user prior to the snap:

  • If your User isn’t assigned to blitz prior to the snap they will be pulled in the direction of their assignment which will not allow you to move freely in another direction.
  • If your User is not assigned to blitz you should manually set them to blitz before the snap.

2. Man/Zone KO’s are pointless on your User:

  • If you follow my recommendation and have your User assigned to blitz then that makes KO’s useless on your User.
  • It would be better to spend your AP on Acrobat, Pick Artist, Enforcer, or Tackle Supreme, etc.

3. Most traits don’t matter on your User. (I believe the “Clutch” and “High Motor” traits are the only ones that really do anything for your User):

  • Play Ball and Big Hitter traits are only going to apply to CPU controlled players.
  • If your User has the trait Big Hitter: No, it doesn’t matter they will still hit stick when you flick the right stick.
  • If your User has the trait Plays Ball: Conservative, it doesn’t matter they will still attempt INT’s with your manual input.
  • If you choose to User the D-line, pass rush traits don’t matter for the player that you are going to User pass rush with. You can still attempt any pass rush move of your choice even if they don‘t have the trait.

Choosing what player to User:

  • Linebackers don’t move as well as DB’s even if they have 99 AGI/99 COD. Unfortunately there is something in the coding that makes DB’s move easier/smoother than LB’s no matter what the attributes are.
  • Linebackers will not animate for INT’s like a DB without Lurker equipped.
  • User blitzing through gaps directly after the snap is smoother/faster with a DB. If you want to User blitz a gap to stop the run or create pressure it will be easier with a DB. There is a noticeable delay when trying to User blitz with a Linebacker from the SubLb/MLB position allowing offensive blockers to get in better position and/or the QB more time to pass the ball.

*If you have other User tips that could help the community feel free to share in the comments.

Only other thing was some update they made it so LB are better versus rushing than DB are.

Nice list! Unfortunate that LBs don't do very well in coverage, but I keep Patrick Willis on the field for his run stopping capabilities

If you can afford Avalanche and get him in good position against the run he can be deadly!

The best LB User I’ve had in 23 is Quay Walker Renegade with all of the Renegade boosts and the 7 baked in abilities. It‘s just too hard to justify the 3AP on him now that we only get 6 for the entire Defense.

I don’t think I read the notes from the last update so now I’m curious about what they changed with this. If you find it send it my way please!

This bullet point under Play Awareness:

Logic added so that when defensive backs are playing in linebacker positions, they will have slower reaction time to the running game.

Also, do note that a downside to blitzing your user is they will blitz if you switch off instead of covering a zone, so just have to keep that in mind when choosing to blitz your user every play.  Not an issue if you don't switch off but can bite some people if they're not aware.

Thanks for the link/info on the update.

Also, good point about blitzing the User, that could be helpful for some people to understand they won’t have an assignment if you switch off.

IMO it’s best to user the same player and only switch off to try for INT or tackle.

1 thing a lot of people dont know is if ur user is in a blitz they don't animate as well to the ball but the pro-to-con ratio makes blitzing ur user better

Thanks for the tips. I never knew or noticed the point about blitzing. I'll have to pay more attention to that going forward.

I have not experienced this. I’ve Usered Darren Woodson ROH with only Enforcer and always have him set to blitz. He has gotten plenty of crazy animations and reactions that I didn’t even expect without PA/Acro and he’s not even tall.

I know if your User doesn’t have Pick Artist then he can get the ”Bad Timing Ball Hawk” much more frequently.

I do this as well, it’s automatic. I don’t even know what buttons to press anymore because it’s all just muscle memory now.

I’ve always twitched with my user pre snap jsut so they aren’t static when the ball is snapped. maybe placebo but I feel like I get a small speed or accel boost when the ball I snapped like when receivers that are in motion during the snap get
