If he wants to spend $500, that's his prerogative. I'm also a money spender as it's a hobby for me. I spend money on my hobbies. 

Really paints the story when the only one's that have a problem are the 'NMS' crowd.

Lies. The market always adjusts and EA would release cards in different ways. It actually would make the game more fun like it used to be and not pay to win. Can I afford to buy them? Yes. Is it predatory and annoying to see MUT continue to add worse bundles and exclusive OP cards that can only be bought with money. So no I won’t be dropping tons of money on this

First off, to be clear I don't have a problem with people spending $.   The game developer has monetized Madden in every way possible and there is no going back on that.  Micros transactions  are here to stay and there is nothing the average consumer can do about it - in Madden or many other titles.

But to offer a different perspective that might explain the hate you might feel - there was a time not so long ago when the only purchase you needed to make was the game.  Even if you did want to pour in money to make up for your subpar skills, it wasn't an option.  You lived and died by your own stick skills and decision making. 

 I'd argue there are folks who spend inordinate amounts and it doesn't help them one bit.  There are others that have to rely on their superior teams and would be mediocre to terrible without them.  Again, no shade on your financial decisions, but there are some who wish it was a completely balanced playing field and true skill dictated the outcomes.

When you say "skill" don't you mean cheese? because that the only people hating on the ones that do spend money. The guys that only run midblitz or sam will blitz all game. Thinking that is skill is ridiculous.

Do you not spend money on any hobbies? Hell, I just spent nearly $400 on Volbeat tickets a few weeks ago. I see no difference.

It's part of every game out there today, especially sport games, when you play online.  It would take a lot more than the MUT community to stop it.  I have been playing Madden since the late 80's, long before microtransactions were a thing, so I am not happy about it, but it's today's reality.

No hate on anyone and however they choose to spend their money — no hating. My issue comes when people are spending money and winning, thinking they’re good, when in reality, they’re just not lol. When you spend money, you have a competitive edge against me. It’s almost like if EA sold an add-on to each game for $5 and you started ahead 7–0 — I’m sure people would do it. But when you lose those games, players who didn’t start with any edge or advantage have the right to gloat a bit, in my opinion.

Now, just because you spend money doesn’t mean you’re bad at the game, and just because you’re NMS doesn’t mean you would have won with even teams. But in a game that’s supposed to be balanced and skill-based, you’re paying for an advantage. So when it doesn’t work, of course, those of us who haven’t spent money and have won with skill are happy.

Plus, it makes the game more fun in my opinion — like sniping and free packs/players matter. But I get it: people want a decent team to compete with and have fun, and for some (or most) with priorities, that means spending a little extra money.

Yeah there's no right or wrong way to play the game it's whatever you enjoy and have time for.   To me the auction house and investing in cards aspect is fun and brings another layer to the game.  With the companion app (if we ever get one for Madden 26...) it's something I can do when I'm not at the console and can't actually play the game.  I don't think there's a particular virtue to being NMS (because like many of you have pointed out, if you're not spending money you are spending time) but I definitely get satisfaction with building a team that way that I don't think I would get if I spent real money.  

For me personally I also do not want to spend money and not know what I am getting or be subject to pack luck.  The ripping packs aspect and uncertainty is not enjoyable to me when I'm spending actual money on it.

I get it just say you are ass at the game and need to spend hundreds to stay relevant. It’s ok to admit your faults

No one said they 'need' to do anything. Your assumption is greatly misguided. We choose to spend because the time to 'grind' is more valuable than some pocket change. Time = money.

The only one displaying weird behavior here is you worrying about another grown man's money.
