I have fun with it. I usually play squads and want to get into solos but defense is still not my bag. I can user well enough but picking plays is rough.
Matchmaking should be a combo of team overall (all players on roster should count so you cannot sub in better layers) and skill level.
An 82 overall team shouldn't be matched with an 86 overall team, etc. But there should be some type of skill based matchmaking as well instead of the randomness it is now.
Money vs Time is irrelevant if you don't play H2H. I play MUT as a hobbyist. I don't play online until I'm a 99. I spend no more than 50-60 dollars a year, just for platinum packs. I collect GI Joe, comic books and metal cds. I am loathe to spend much money on MUT. I have fun team building. If you want to see what I REALLY love doing, check out my IG page. https://www.instagram.com/joerizzo2025/
This is my third year playing Madden in general, and my second year playing MUT online. I'm 40 years old, have a full-time job, have kids and am new to sports games. I wait until my kids go to bed to play games, so I have limited time. The first year it took me forever just to complete challenges and left little time to learn the game. I thought it was silly to spend money on digital cards. However, last year I spent money so I could focus on playing.
While playing online I have been made fun of for spending money, for studying e-books...it tends to be a toxic community. I have met nice players as well.
Now, I just mute opponents while playing the game and listen to music. I play to have fun. I for one am not going to judge. As I learn the game and the market, I realize I don't need to spend much money on the game.
Do you what you want and have fun doing it.

This is a fair take but at the same time its a hobby and spending money a hobby is a normal thing.

I think that would be fair. I have SBMM fatigue from cod but I think it should be something where you have a range of -2/+2 of your overall for reg season. That way you won't be able to just get easy wins or will just get smashed. Then playoffs and superbowls should be maybe within -1/+1 of your overall.
My observation from the comments on threads about money is that the ones who complain about others spending money seem to believe that the money spenders are somehow ruining the game for the no money spenders by making everything unaffordable to the no money spenders.

Personally I spend money on the game. About $200 a month give or take. Some promos get me for a couple hundred more here and there. Am I aware that's it's not

Another observation about this thread is that if people didn't' spend money on the game, there would be no market, so you wouldn't have to worry about affordability.

I bought the game to play h2h ranked, thats it. Not to complete sets, not to spend hours and hours playing the auction house. I dont have time for all that. I want to log in and PLAY MADDEN. I dropped about $500 on the game so far and I love it. My teams isn't even great, but at least I am competitive in ranked h2h.
people like pocket watching, some broke people cant afford it so they have envy in their heart
I'm just against spending money on MUT in principle. It feeds EA's greed.
Yeah I’ve spent like 200 bucks to get honey badger. Don’t even care that it isn’t worth it but he’s my favorite safety ever to watch and even as a bills guy, his prime was innnsanne.

No one is saying you can't be against it, it's your choice to spend or not spend money. Just don't criticize others for choosing to spend money.

By mindlessly spending $500 on the game it encourages companies to cater to that lessening the experience for the largest part of the gaming base. You are literally trying to pay to win. Buying the best cards and packs with cash lessens the experience. EA has been more and more predatory (especially the cards that you can only buy and give your whole team a boost is BS). 500$ a month in is batshit crazy
