So we all know it is bad. But how bad is it and how can that be "measured" ?
Well, I just got matched up with some casual player (based on his team) who's best offensive players had 88, 86 and 84 Speed.
So I thought lets just - for the heck of it - run man on defense all game long (all my DBs are 90+ speed) and see what happens.
Ran Cover 0 and Cover 2 man from different formations, matching his personnel and 'Im not exaggerating when I say EVERYBODY got open regularly. Woolen, Porter, Hairston, Bates (maxed out) all of them were absolutely getting cooked - especially by a 84 SPD Kyle Pitts.
Not only couldn't my team cover anybody, the broken tackles he got, the way my players dumbed out (especially Sauce Garner sucked bad) was just as insane as the blocking he got in the run game with 85 bnd cards manhandling my line consistinge of Crosby, Garrett, Jones and Anderson. Even running a 5 man front with 4 DONs didn't change anything.
I ended up winning the game by one score because I just sent the house at him while playing press the entire time until he threw 2 picks.
I dont consider myself a great Madden player but I make Champ div. every season, been playing this game for like 10 years and consider myself decent enough to easily beat opponents like this with bad teams who can't make a read and seemingly call coach suggestion plays.
I dont know how this has anything to do with skill anymore. At a minimum, the gap is not big enough.
