Shutdown

Can anyone give me an explanation of what shutdown is? I understand Universal coverage any everything else. But for let's say an MLB that doesnt get universal, would running shutdown with reinforcement suffice or ve similar? Just trying to understand if shutdown is even useful at all.

Shutdown in my experience of the game is like one step ahead but on crack this year i ran a bit of slot CB legend Dan skipper (just kidding ofc) but with shutdown and in match or man he was literally glue to his assignment and i was impressed but i guess his module being as big as he was he either glued to the guy or took himself out the play somebody smaller like that Mel Renfro it should be a Useful ability

Zone hawk would be more preferable than shutdown for backers because they’ll get all zone KO and Reaction times but for most they rather run dual threat or reinforcements for the pass rush/run stop badges bonus and All KO bonus

But dual threat and reinforcement doesn’t give you reaction time bonus IE makes your player feel super fast boy on break of the ball

But manning was actually a bit better with Uche and Burress. But hilarious to use Skipper

Manning has been very underwhelming for me personally like uche dawg burress caught a pick last night for me that i thought was just insane and mel Blount boiii lemme tell you i love that card i love it cuz he scares the fuck out of me countless times I’m thinking Mel blew another assignment for him to just somehow say fuck it and Ed reed just balls to the wall make a play out of like the stands and then there’s manning he’s been well…. So basically it sounds like Shutdown is all the man kos and one step ahead?

Does that mean that if you have Universal Coverage stacked with Shutdown, you get Universal Coverage's solid coverage in zone, but better man coverage from Shutdown than you would ordinarily get with Universal Coverage alone?
