TJ Watt is so overrated, he's a good stat padder, but when it comes to turning his defense into a dominant unit and leading them to actual success he is nowhere near the other guys I mentioned. Same with Garrett!

I am not saying he is bad, he is clearly very good. He just doesn't move the needle. Stacking sacks vs bad o-linemen while your team is getting spanked doesn't make you a great defensive leader and stalwart like the other guys I mentioned who would sometimes singlehandedly take over and win a game

Whas he supposed to do lol? he gets through the o line and sacks the qb, thats his job and hes great at it, just bcs the rest of the d is ass doesnt make him bad, also teams always line him up with their best o line men, hes winning dpoy and he deserves it.

He isn't making any game winning plays or truly leading the defense and elevating the play of those around him like the guys I mentioned.
15.5 of his sacks are vs bottom 5 offensive lines that are completely devoid of talent and horribly coached. Ravens, Bengals, Raiders, and Patriots have some of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and have been getting obliterated by everyone all season long. 15.5 of his sacks came vs those 4 teams.
I think he is a beast, he just isn't an all-time great that elevates his team to success. We have seen that before multiple times, so we know what that looks like! He just isn't that guy. He is still good and can take advantage of bad players, but when he faced good offensive lines like Detroit, Minnesota, Green Bay and even Pittsburgh has been decent this year... he had 0.5 sacks vs those 4 teams.
There is just a difference between stat padding vs trash and dominating in meaningful moments and winning games.
