Newbie Abilities Help

I’m just getting back into playing madden after years away.  I have a 97 overall team and don’t play a ton of online, due to the constant matchups against people who run glitches defensive plays or spam the same plays over and over again.  Yes, I can stop it sometimes, but it’s just not fun. 

I usually user a LB or a blitzer.  I run a 50 Bills team chem.  Josh is my QB.  

With all of that, what are the best abilities and x-Factors you recommend?   They’ve changed so much since I last played that I don’t know what’s effective anymore. 

Any suggestions are appreciated.

How much AP you budget for him? Gunslinger and pocket deadeye would prolly be your best additions. I would upgrade that QB tho tbh

He was a 95 with team chems.  I got 99 Josh today

I have a ton of training.  I planned on using most of it on the QB and RB.  Gunslinger. Deadeye, and jukebox for the rb.

Ah. AP not training - there’s a salary cap for abilities nowadays, rather than the 3 players in the past

I just stopped using 93 Allen, upgraded to 99 Allen. That 93 played great for me though.

Just depends on play style. If you like to pass more then maybe see about something for your tackles (Edge Protector, Secure Protector, All Day)

Also as mentioned, Gunslinger, some form of Deadeye. I like Short and Mid Elite's for my receivers, but you can adjust those to your preference. Running back I usually just rock Tank and Human Joystick. If you aren't the best with hard cuts, you could swap Joystick for Evasive or Bruiser. It really just comes down to getting as many free abilities as you can, and then plug in 1AP stuff where applicable

Are there any abilities you all recommend on defense?  Something that will make them play to their value without me having to user them?  

I generate almost zero pass rush unless I do it myself.  Even coverage ability recommendations are appreciated.

Pass Rush:

Colossus in the middle and Unstoppable Force on the edges.

Double or nothing is the best regular pass rush ability this year.

Zone KO’s can help with reactions and KO’s sometimes but they’re not nearly as effective as previous years.

Lurk Artist is needed on Linebackers.

Pick Artist will help DB’s animate.
