EA should fall under and be subject to those regulations.

I also wonder if EA is taxed on the coins and percentage they charge individuals for auctions 🤔

If EA does use bots to make in game purchases preventing people from finding a good deal on a card in order to maintain and push prices up... Price Fixing 🤔

And when people then look to alternative companies that sell coins at a better exchange rate than EA which they then ban people for... Monopoly 🤔

Legislators could and should do something about it.

NFL should get involved. Or also be subject to associated fines and penalties.

And we can all vote with our dollar until a better product comes along or controls and legislation are put in place for EA and Madden.

I don’t even know how loot boxes can be regulated anyways. How do they regulate slot machines in a casino to ensure the machine pays out occasionally?

I know. I was hopefully YEARS ago when I first started with MUT and heard rumblings about loot boxes/crates in games (I THINK it was Fortnite) and how they may start to be considered gambling etc and would be governed Etc. The first hope I had was MUT.

but like I said…..that was YEARS ago. And we are STILL complaining…. And getting screwed worse and more with each reiteration.

A LOT of regulation and oversight to be sure.

How old do you have to be to play slots (gamble)?

How old on average are the MUT players who are not NMS I wonder? Do they validate the age of those spending money on packs and gambling? So not only gambling, more than likely at least to some degree if I am being conservative, under age gambling.

I'm not up on my Fortnite. How is the communication between Epic and the Fortnite community when it comes to loot boxes, content, etc. Although still gambling hopefully there are more controls and transparency around it. Parental controls seem well done.

EA makes it up as they go, bait and switch sales tactics, zero communication or clarification. My experience is they have no one within support to speak with who even knows what Madden 25 or MUT even is.

So they take your money for things you think you are paying for and purchasing and then make it impossible to speak with anyone or find resolution. Feels like it was designed that way and meant to run broken.

My kids play Fortnite and I buy stuff for them.

Nothing is gambling and they have a lot of controls in place. They also allow you to freely refund three purchases you made per year and any purchase within 24 hours. Miles ahead of these sports games.

The same concept applies to sports cards. Odds of getting a certain type of card are printed on the pack, but is anyone actually monitoring that those odds are accurate?

Or is anyone actually verifying that a card that supposedly includes a piece of a jersey worn by Aaron Rodgers was actually worn by Aaron Rodgers?

Facts. Sadly, nobody cares. EA knows exactly what they are doing -- why do you think they never refer to these as playing cards, their entire business model hinges on them pushing these as "fun little surprises" and NOT what it clearly is, as you described above, an unregulated casino for literal children.

Doubly sad is the fact that gambling is now not only socially acceptable, but a HUGE component of modern sports landscape. The Dallas Mavericks basically just gifted the Lakers Luca, all to be a pawn in their quest to add a casino to the TexASS landscape. If that fails (again), i suspect Miriam Addelson will be trying to get her own (expansion?) franchise in Vegas... or perhaps consider relocating the team from Dallas.

Man Fortnite is easily one of THE LEAST predatory companies out there. They have very strict controls in place, none of the stuff they sell is pay-to-win AT ALL, they give you 3 free refunds every year, have a good support team, they communicate with the community ALL THE TIME, and are very transparent. The shit they do is night and day to other companies, ESPECIALLY sports game companies lmao. And they don't have loot boxes....at all, you pay and get what you pay for, it's an item shop to pay for rotating cycles of different cosmetics, and then there are battle passes (like the field pass) that clearly show you what you're paying for. Imo Epic might be one of the best multiplayer game companies out there rn.
