Market Manipulation

Do you guys think EA manipulates the AH?

I saw a flood of 93 Jared Verse cards flood the AH today just before the Genki Force started.

The same thing happened in the middle of the night during the ZC event.

Now you see cards posted below well below the price to complete the set, on top of that, they're taking a 10% loss.

Makes me wonder why this type of stuff happens every event launch.

They might just be trying to stimulate the market but at the cost of tanking the cards.

Nah jared verse and ps2 been flooded since launch. Ive actually made a decent coin flipping ps2. Ea just went and took away 96 ovr coin cap today because of overflood

Of course they “manipulate” the AH. Was what you described that? I don’t know. They probably call it things like Management or Balancing. The game’s design seems to make their heavy handed meddling apparent. In fairness I doubt there’s a scenario where they don’t have to do a significant amount of that. Maybe this is part of why MUT coins and items are restricted by EA as having no monetary value. Non redeemable non transferable yada yada. While other developers have gone the other way or maybe it’s just greed, small thinking and a lack of creativity. Probably mostly that.

Then again I’m the local crack pot on this stuff and the AH bots being massively impactful and capable of a lot more than just a delay.

I've stopped attempting to find the logic in other people's actions; maybe it's as simple as a lack of delayed gratification, who knows.

Right now Genki Force Justin Herbert (Median) price is 499k (just sold for 401k) - Harrison Smith (Median) 498k (just sold for 488k) = 889k (Combined)

Meanwhile, the Justin Herbert/Harrison Smith card just listed for 515k

I don't want to say anything negative, so I won't, but it's not entirely an EA problem.

Set cards lose value over time

You can also pull the combined card in a pack w/o making the set. On XBX the fusion Harrison Smiths avg price is around 480.  I guarantee no one is dumping 700kish to make a card to sell at a 200kish loss   

Just because a card costs X amounts NOW to make, doesn’t mean that is the value of said card.

I completely understand your point, but most players aren't pulling this card from packs; at least not me, I've opened close to 50 packs, and the best I got was a 93.

The value of the card should be the same regardless of how you got it:

You're free to disagree, but it's simple math.

The low price of 93s is 109k (you need 5) for a total of 545k; logic would tell us that should be the starting price for the card.

Then you look at the influence Quality has on the card; the market wants more Woolen (572k), and less Armstead (479k); so no card should be posted below 479k due to the loss of the 10% tax.

You want a quick sale because you pulled the card, I get it, but I have never posted a card for anything less than 1k lower than the next highest price; it should be standard Market etiquette, and if the value of the next card is well below the Median price, I will post it for a strategic price close to the Median and wait 24hr.

Delayed gratification without tanking the Market.

You’re not wrong. I am not innocent of trying to control the supply and ultimately the price of specific cards. Many others have as well. I’ve been taking a little break so nobody can blame me right now. It’s boring yet effective. So really more for early in the Madden year and other times you find yourself needing/wanting to make as many coins as you possibly can as quickly as you can. I’m waiting for that itch to return to log in and here I am so I guess it’s only a matter of time. Oh well maybe next time. I like the more detailed conversation you guys are having and want to add more later when I have more time. There’s nothing wrong with calling ourselves out or those you think are adversely impacting your gaming experience. As long as we are respectful, listen and present relevant and accurate facts in our arguments. The way we interact with the game does impact others. I’m willing to admit it that I’ve been a part of that. Im also willing to and do try to find ways to mitigate that.
