People spend money early on to have a competitive team. Once they start losing a lot, they don't want their money to go to waste, so what do they do? Spend more money. It's an ongoing cycle.
Also, you cant build a 40/40 without spending money. You also can't have discounted zone abilities everywhere unless you spend money.
The next thing they do is add tackle supremes on for 0 AP to stop angry runs. Of course, those cards will be expensive.

you can have the best team in the game without spending money. you can make 1m coins an hour in the AH pretty easily. if you want to put in some time you can have plenty of coins.

Look at Max Condor 95OVR...he was selling for 250k the first day he came out
The set costs 450k coins to make
So I bought a bunch and knew his price would go back up
It did take a week or so, but eventually I sold them all for $450k
Do that 10 times and you got a million easy coins

flipping cards and set building is pretty darn profitable. over the wknd, whenever i wanted i could go build a playoffs 94 for 225k-240k and sell every one of them for 315k. its down a bit now but i was able to build them in about 2-3 minutes each and sometimes cards would just flood. and since i'm on the 90-91 filter, i was building zero chill ghost and merry mix cards. the poa, the lane johnson, the jevon kearse, trav fred were all going for like 200+ and sometimes 225+ and you could build them for around 140k pretty effortlessly.

and at it's peak, the playoff cards were going for 350k+
boggles my mind that people pay 350k for a card that could be built in the sets without even using filters for 275k effortlessly but people were buying tyler biadasz, nickbolton, xavier worthy, and nakobe dean all wknd

By your logic people should only 100 percent complete meaningful tasks and eat grass to entirely dedicate dopamine release to meaningful endeavors that better mankind.
