with Surtain coming out and costing half (500k-600k) of what Stingley cost is it better to just go with Surtain or is Stingley worth the 500k more coins he cost?

With the pace of the release cycle this year, i'd be hard pressed to want to spend 1M coins on basically any player or card. I guess if i was playing in the big MCS tournament this weekend, i'd probably be forced to splurge, but there's zero chance I ever attempt to play this game "competitively" -- could you imagine trying to compete for a hundred grand and getting robbed by the disjointed, buggy ass gameplay?
With how ridiculously inconsistent Man Coverage is this (and every/most) years, I'd probably be looking for budget beasts to fill those roles. Don't snooze on that Rasul Douglas, especially if you can get 9/9 Ultimate Preseason players, he's able to get either 90 MCV/ZCV. You'd be missing out on +1 SPD, but you also get +2 inches in height and the coverage stats (Man, Zone & Press) are better on Rasul. Not that stats really mean much, but hitting those minimum thresholds can be kind of a big deal, especially this early in the cycle. YMMV, obviously theme teams complicate the decision-making.
stingley is the best CB until wednesday morning. after wednesday morning he'll be worth about 600-700k

i always look at players thinking, is this place worth this much more than the next player below him and will i get those coins back plus some by playing with him?
usually the answer is no and unless you're chasing top 100 to get ed reed, it's not worth it.
