They just don’t make a difference. I get torched regardless if I’m in man, zone, or a combination… so dang frustrating
I bought and sold mays because I didn’t see any difference between him and free mickinney. Not sure there’s any game changing players on defense they all rely on a random red throws to make a stop
I'd suggest trying to figure out your opponent more, taking away their first read and shelling your coverages. Also go for god stack on some fast DL to put at DT. That's your only option and get budget beasts with speed at every skill position on D. That's what I do. Most of my coin is heavily spent on offense since it is an offensive driven game.

richard sherman and vita vea have been awesome for me. fred warner has made some plays. the rest have been non existent, even 93 carlton davis doesn't do shit.

I’ve had literally every card in the game. For sure every high end d-lineman. The problem is in order to take away someone’s primary ready, and for 95% of the community, that’s rpo’s, flat routes, or corners, you leave yourself wide open to get burned deep. In the past, at least base alignment would keep people somewhat honest there.. not anymore. The defense in the game is just in a terrible spot right now.

Defense is honestly a chess match. It's a guessing game to force your opponent to make the incorrect read. Once you focus on that more, you'll get more wins. The key is not to get frustrated. You're going to give up yards, sometimes stupid big gains. Try to stick with a bend but don't break scheme. Take away the big play. I've found giving up the stupid drags underneath forces most ppl to panic bomb the ball and a lot of times it results in an INT. Don't always stay in man or zone. You have to continue to mix it up unless you completely exploit your opponent. Then you punish them for that.
You don't need better cards. Just get better at finding tendencies, weaknesses. If your opponent does zero blocking adjustments, blitz the hell out of em. If they do, disguise your zone coverages and counter their personnel. Lots of ppl love bunch or trips, user a corner opposite side of the field since most of the routes will break over the middle. I run a lot of 4-3 and Big Nickel, and Nickel 3-3. I don't get aggressive with man blitzes unless I really need a stop.
All these formations are very versatile but you need fast LBs for coverage and god stack DL. This game is so shit blocking 3 DL. I've found many people struggle against it especially if you disguise your looks. On defense for me speed is #1 followed by COD and Agility. The higher the better for man coverage. Higher awr and play rec is better for zone. I stay away from low play rec and awr skill players on defense. I stick with a minimum of 84 for each. Travis Hunter is kind of the gold standard for me. Speed, good agility, COD and good coverage. He's still a usable card for cheap.
Sorry if TLDR just trying to help out.

Man, I appreciate your advice, and believe me, I know it’s a chess match. The problem is the zones and shades don’t work how they are intended. If I am calling a cover 2 hard flat, pass committing, and shading down, there is no way rb’s should be catching uncontested passes out in the flats. Defense is just broken, doesn’t matter if you are playing chess or checkers.

You get torched because a torch is the only thing that can come close to how hawt AF you are 😍😘

I mean I play with a gold o line and been doin it for years when I noticed overalls don't matter like they should. I had the best o line coins could buy and no matter what Abdul carter was getting free like my rt didn't exist. I also had the top cbs at the time and freakin Higgins was dropping his sack on my players every other play. Overall doesn't matter like it should so I play with a gold o line and the key positions I keep top players or decent ones.

btw i sold my devin white for this reason. it was a 2.3m buy that i sold for 2.69m and tbh, wouldn't have done much better than the most feared WILL LB that replaced him.
