How to avoid DPI on streaks?

How do I defend streaks 1 on 1? Is there a way? Or do I leave it up to God and the AI? I’m beyond tired of getting 85 yard penalties for sneezing on the receiver’s shoe.

How I defend them now, I click onto the defender but let the CPU control movement until I jump for the ball. That works okay, but now I’m getting penalties as soon as I hit triangle. If that wasn’t bad enough, people are now throwing up ducks and just trying to run into defenders. 

I‘m at a loss really. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I NEVER click to my DBs if they are lobbing a streak, most of the time my players will get the KO or the pick. only time I click on is when it's slightly under thrown and I can jump underneath it

Just let the CPU handle it

When you switch defenders, you risk your DB pausing for a split second

I think that’s the way I’m leaning.  I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t a method or something out there that I was leaving on the table. Thanks

I‘ve mastered clicking on and off. I don’t have any trouble with that. But I think you’re right regardless. I probably won’t play the ball much better than the CPU and it’s not worth the penalty.

It’s so annoying. Either make a usable cover mechanic or take PI out of the game.
