My favorite family tradition is pretty basic, I love how we all get matching pajamas and do pictures. I really just love seeing my family. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Growing up my Mother would make a nice ham dinner on Christmas eve, and let my brother and I open one present each. I could tell the shape of a video game, so I'd always pick that and we'd stay up late playing Nintendo. Christmas morning we had to wait until 6am (gasp), set up the fire, and brew coffee before we could wake up our parents, then we'd finally tear through the rest of our presents (stockings last). Then Mom would make a huge scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast, with my favorite part being her orange sherbert and canned fruit cocktail.

My family's tradition is for everyone to hide their own $20 around the house and then subtly give clues as to where they hid their money throughout the day. In the end we see who has the most money

My family is a bit spread out, and not always in the neat or traditional sense. Over the years, one holiday tradition I’ve tried to hold onto is simply showing up for each of them. Every Christmas, I travel from where I live and make my way across the East Coast to spend time with different parts of my family. It isn’t always easy, and it definitely takes time and energy, but it feels important. Broken families can still be families, and if there’s a role I’ve found meaning in, it’s being a steady presence — a reminder that connection is still possible. For me, that’s what the holidays are about.

My families big traditions are always opening PJs on Christmas Eve to wear to bed. Also we put the tree up the day after thanksgiving, merry Christmas all!
