There have been many threads here about the FG block exploit on old gen. There is no way to stop it completely... but you can make it harder by using a left-footed kicker for those critical situations. Most if us use a lefty punter (Scottish Hammer) for this purpose... he can be used on extra points and FGs from inside the the 34 yard line (maximum). It does not stop someone who know how to block the lefty kicker... but it makes it significantly more difficult.
I'm surprised you have not encountered this previously.... it's been a "thing" since October. And right now I'd say at least 75% of my opponents try to use the exploit against me.
