is there a convention where the madden staff and the folks that run this page go to every year?
i would love to meet some of these folks in real life…

There's not. Who knows what the future may hold, but nothing as of right now.
wow, I figured there had to be one already…
Lol EA cheap af and would never put any $ into a convention unless they were charging $500 entrance fee.
Ea operates with zero communication skills, the twitch staff and staff here are hardly given any concrete info most of the time and they constantly have to put up with majority of the backlash. If anything EA should be giving them a weeks paid vacation to the Bahamas for putting up with this communitys crap all year. All EA does anymore is hide away in their billion dollar lair looking for the next way to make a quick buck...they hardly communicate anything with the public anymore....they used to be pretty good at community updates etc years ago but its practically non existant these days.
It would have to be primarily run by 3rd party (i.e. this site or something similar) for it to be successful. EA wouldn't spend the resources to do it, and if they even attempted to, I feel the majority of the people in charge would have little to no insight about the game and mode itself.
Rocketz and MH did one a few years ago, and from all accounts was a pretty successful event. Not sure something like that would work now.
it seems odd there is no convention for video games in general…
i have done comic con and sneaker conventions, i feel like there is enough folks for a major gaming convention, even beyond madden

gamescon is in germany and besides pax west the other conventions in the us dont focus on sport video games exclusively, let alone madden.
as far as paxwest, madden developers are not coming to talk to people like writers for marvel come to comic con. they use that event to promote fiba and other ea titles, but they dont do seminars and q and a sessions, especialliy for madden
not to mention, pax west is on the opposite side of the country from me and it does not travel at all.
there seems like a demand for all team sport video games, 1st person games, fighting games, etc, to have a convention like SXSW, comic con or sneaker con:
with actual interaction and discussion, not just a big corporate commercial
hope that clears the confusion for you

Well I guess youre pretty young then. E3 used to be HUGE here (USA) in the 2000-2015 ish era. Espeically the first decade that was every gamers dream con.

you kinda explained it yourself: E3 is defunct.
“young” is subjective: I started on Activision football on Atari 2600, and moved onto every football title from Colecovision to Nintendo to Playstation.
do the math.

In person cons are a thing of the past now a days for the most part besides a few things that are getting gouged for.
We wont have anymore. Too much time/money/etc to dump in for something that could be done online.
