It's become far and away my favorite game mode. Still tons of cheese, but requires three people to work well together. Football is the greatest team sport known to man for a number of very good reasons, this is as close as we can get to simulating those aspects of the great game of football.

So the player controlling the offense uses their own offense lineup while the defensive guy watches until it's time for their defense to play? And head coach doesn't really much? Can you get matched with random people?

It's 3 v 3, so nobody is ever watching. You can actively control whatever player you want. For example, as defensive coordinator, I'm typically either blocking or running routes, although I guess I could be primary ball carrier, etc. as offensive coordinator controls the QB play and chooses scheme and specific plays. 

And yes, you can play random Squads (or even Duos if it's just you and one friend), up to three maximum players per team.

I'm a grumpy old man who doesn't always play nice with others. Getting a terrible QB / OC can ruin the experience. Everyone needs to know their role and carry their weight, a single weak link decimates the entire experience. So you basically need two decent rosters and a third person (head coach) can be level 1, new MUT player, as long as they're somewhat competent.

FAR and away the most fun game mode, but can be the most difficult to get into. Took me 3 years of daily Madden before I fell into a group of guys who primarily run Squads and have shown me the way and everything I was missing out on.

So on defense all 3 players control someone and same with offense? Just the OC controls the QB? And who calls the plays? This sounds like it could be fun. I'm more of a team kind of guy which is one reason I love football so much but funny cuz Madden isn't a "team" game
