Current/Legends QB throwing types and Release times

*New QB release tier list**

Every single QB release including legends/past qbs . As of right now, I couldn't find any QB with Traditional 2.

In order from best to worst based on rankings

Slinger 1 is Rodgers, Marino, Mariota, Jake Plummer, Derrick Henry

Traditional 2 is N/A

Generic 3 is Daniel Jones, Ryan Tannehill, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Taysom Hill, Josh Allen, Derek Carr, Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson, Deshaun
Watson, Jared Goff, Teddy, Sam Bradford
Bridgewater, Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, Jalen Hurts, Matt Ryan, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam Darnold, Cam Newton, Kirk Cousins, Boomer Esiason, Randall Cunningham, Mitchell Trubisky, Ryan Fitzpatrick

Traditional 1 is Tom Brady, Joe Burrow

Note: Interesting how 90% of all QBs release went from generic 1 in 21 to generic 3 in 22.

Technically it's slinger 2 from last year but I wanted to be 100% accurate because a lot of qbs throwing types have changed this year.

Marino and Rodgers can get passing abilities that mariota can't. With certain passing abilities such as PLE, gunslinger, and SFL it's a increase in the release time compared to running the qb with no abilities.

At this moment I don't know. Trying to find an accuracy way to get past/legends qb releases. According to last year he had Slinger 2 .

So just my thoughts. Mariota does not have Marino/Rodgers release, does he? I dont think Romo does either. They may have quicker releases but not the same. Plummer does however, have the Marino/Roders release. I think the biggest issues with releases is how long it takes them to throw the deeper balls. Even Marino's release on the longer passes is terribly slow. Also, i think there is zero help from Quickdraw. Again, just my observation. I may be fully of it LOL.

undoubtedly an important topic. thanks for sharing. with how much power in game comes with the quickest releases, the right QB can often boost a poor player into the stratosphere.

one request, though, please include methodology. the "eyeball" test is so subjective, as we can all see from the replies above. themarksman13 certainly was using actual data with release times to create the table you include.

Have you tested Vick yet?

Im using Lamar over Vick currently and his throw is REALLY slow as I saw but was wondering how much faster he was. May power down Lamar and go for someone else until Vick gets a higher card.

I'm in the process of collecting all legends/past qbs and testing out their releases right now.
