You'll get stops or ints like crazy because the CPU is coded to avoid your user at all costs but will throw to your CPU defenders no problem.
I just call the coach suggestion zone defense play and let the CPU do it's thing so I can do other stuff while playing like watch something.
100% agree. This CPU event is crazy hard. For us low average Madden players who do not play H2H. Im convinced now the solos we regularly play are too easy. But I just want to relax and throw TDs.
CPU is literally cheating to beat me it makes no sense
the cpu does give up crossing routes but they also make plays on balls in zone so its critical to throw ahead of receiver or way deep overtop
Ya this event is for sure much harder.
- Just stick to a few plays you run really well. I find Weak I HB dive and mesh like plays work well to get reliable 5 to 15 yards on repeat.
- don’t turn the ball over.
- play smart on D. If you know how to blitz well it eventually forces some turnovers.
- prioritize the really good strategy cards when drafting. Some will give you crazy chemistry or tackle boosts (which matter a lot with all the break tackle the CPU has)
They did amp up the difficulty again.
Lots of good advice here. I’ll repeat ones I’ve used and found useful.
I will admit I have a pretty good team. But as you all have observed, this mode renders a lot of that moot.
So the tips I can corroborate are:
You can buy players and sell them after you play the first game. The lineup is locked so they’ll stay in your lineup until you finish that run.
Get players with baked in abilities. Some of the Combine 93 players are good for this if you’re on a budget (example Fano the RT has Secure Protector baked on). If you don’t run with your QB, 95 ROH Stafford is a good pickup and you can afford the slot for your theme team. 91 Bobby Wagner is a beast if you run a Seahawks theme team and/or can afford ROH Sherman.
Obviously if you have coin, go for the expensive players like the TOTY and ROH 99s.
On my current run, I have 4 players with DON baked on (SB Freeney, Combine Von Miller, Combine Vea, ROH Bennett). I almost never blitz: I try to make the CPU march down the field.
If I see some type of under center formation, I mostly call cover 2 or 3 zone as the CPU loves its play action and will run RPOs and for those coverages, the safeties don’t get sucked into the run as much. If I give up yards on the ground, so be it.
I like cover 2 man for passing situations against non-bunch formations. I don’t press: I press and then shade over top and try to let the DON pass rush get home. Sometimes I shade inside.
For offense:
Set up your audibles. The comp will cheat and call plays that usually is pretty good at defending what you first call. So you can use this to meta game to get the comp into a specific look and audible to a play to try to attack that.
This is still football. I like to use motion and same principles apply. If somebody follows you’re likely looking at man so go to your man beaters. Otherwise, go to your zone beaters. Plan your hot routes ahead accordingly.
I always like to send a TE or an inside receiver up the seam on passes to punish Cover 3 or Cover 1 where there’s a mismatch. It’s automatic I hot route to this if I see a one high look. I do have Combine Vernon Davis fully chemed but you can substitute your chemed up TE of choice.
It’s still sweaty and you’re forced to be engaged but outside one game where I kept throwing INTs, I usually win by a couple of TDs.
