2007 - Shaun Alexander - traded to wash, then retired
2012 - Peyton Hillis - traded, then retired
2014- Barry Sanders - had already retired, doesnt quality

Seeing CMC on the sidelines for most of the year broke my heart. Hoping my boy comes back strong this year.

I will not be drafting saquon in fantasy football this year. I'm a full believer in the Madden curse. I am certainly glad it's him. Sorry eagles fans but your reign will come to a swift end even with the tush push not banned. Madden will ruin you all..... Hahahahaha.
no he will not break the curse because running 2,000 back to back is the most absurd thing to ever see in the NFL.
Even the “running back” Lamar Jackson had a down year after he was on the cover lol

I think he breaks the curse- he is in a stable franchise with an insane offensive line in his prime

My heart dropped last year around this time when we got the CMC announcement... i think i even made the usual "is the Madden curse still alive?" type post in these very foums. OOF. Sadly, the Madden curse is alive and well. Poor Saquon. Hope he manages to beat the odds, but highly doubtful.
I also do not believe that we'll ever see the OPOY (2023) version of CMC back. Sadly, father time is a fickle bitch to us all. Even the best of us. Hopefully Kyle can figure out how to do running back by committee, because he clearly ran poor Christian into the ground.

We definitely need a two headed monster in Kyle's system. Hoping for the best, but I do agree with you. It's hard to comeback from injuries like that.

Even if he's lost a step, he'll never stop being an incredible route runner, maybe Kyle plays him in the slot, start using two actual RBs. I'm distraught that we re-signed Juice, oof.
However, positive sign that we paid a blocking specialist tight end, hoping that means George will get more targets. Although, i'm still not sure or convinced if big Trent is playing out his career in the Bay Area, or if he'd consider retiring (or asking to be traded to Houston?)... kind of a lot hinges on Silverback being in the house for hopefully more than just 8 or 10 meaningful games.

Thanks for this list, I knew the curse has been broke a couple times at least; most recently w/ Pat Mahomes I believe...but even Josh Allen in 2024 didn't have a bad year either really. I think Saquan will be fine with phillys oline blocking for him.

I would say for Brady losing and Megatron retiring early yes.
