Decided to come back to MUT after 5+ years away from the game. After getting my team to an 87OVR, I decided to start playing H2H. I quickly noticed that stopping the run is extremely difficult for me, even with great DL's. I'm wondering if anyone has any quick tips to help with stopping the run. Do I need to pinch my line before each play, or what would be best? I'm currently running the Panthers defensive playbook and I'm on old gen Xbox. Any tips are appreciated!!
what I do is adjust the d line to pinch for up the middle runs and put linebackers to spread so they are more to the left and right hopefully keeping a eye on the outsides

In general, the best thing to do to help stop the run is to understand the run fits for each play and what they're designed to stop. I believe that is still part of old gen (not 100% though). To pull it up try holding RT+X/B (X for runs to the left, B for runs to the right. This will show you where each defender is supposed to be in a run play, helping you understand where you need to be with your user.
Cover 4 is typically a better run defense for runs up the middle as your safeties will be put into the run fits.
Cover 2 is typically a better run defense for runs to the outside as your outside corners will be put into the run fits.
Cover 3 is typically a nice balanced defense that is symmetrical, especially when you're playing a 1 high safety look.
Here is a video on some keys to help you stopping the run as well:

This video is recorded on next gen, but a lot of the ideas should still apply.
