Each year in Madden Ultimate Team, EA gives players the opportunity to complete challenges and sets in the previous game to earn Rookie Premiere players for the new release. The quality of these cards can vary, some years they’re solid, other years they’re elite. In Madden 26, nearly every Rookie Premiere player is shaping up to be one of the best options at their respective position at launch.
That’s a great problem to have, but it does make ranking them a bit more difficult. Truthfully, there are no bad picks in this year’s Rookie Premiere class, if you need help at one of these positions, any of them will be a valuable addition to your lineup. However, some cards stand out more than others, and that’s what we’re here to break down. In this article, we’ll rank the best Rookie Premiere players in Madden 26 and explain why we’d pick certain players first.
8. Josh Simmons - LT
Josh Simmons is one of the best left tackles available at launch, but left tackle isn’t typically the most urgent position to upgrade early on, especially with so many high-impact options at other spots. That said, if you’re looking for a player who can stay in your lineup for the long haul, offensive linemen are always a smart investment. They tend to have longer shelf lives than skill positions in the early game. While Simmons wouldn’t be our first pick, he’s definitely worth considering if left tackle is a pressing need on your team.
7. Tate Ratledge - C
Tate Ratledge finds himself in a similar situation to Josh Simmons. He’s one of the top centers available at launch, but center isn’t the most impactful position in the Rookie Premiere promo. Ratledge stands out more as a run blocker than a pass protector, with impressive ratings of 86 Run Block, 87 Lead Block, and 88 Impact Block. In fact, he might be even more effective as a guard, especially in schemes that utilize pulling linemen. While he’s not a top-priority pick, he’s a strong option if you’re looking to solidify your offensive line with a powerful run blocker.
6. TreVeyon Henderson - RB
Henderson is a great pick at running back, and if you don’t already have a reliable player at the position, he’s absolutely worth considering. While several backs at launch can match his speed, which is why he falls slightly lower on this list, he still stands out as one of the better all-around options. He hits the key 85 threshold for both Juke Move and Trucking, and he’s also a legitimate threat in the passing game thanks to his solid route running and catching
5. Emeka Egbuka - WR
Emeka Egbuka is a quality starter at wide receiver, and given that most lineups require 3–4 viable receivers, adding depth at the position is always a smart move. Egbuka stands out with top-tier speed, especially compared to other highly rated receivers. He’s a well-rounded route runner across all three levels, short, medium, and deep, and he hits the key 85 threshold for Short Route Running. With the right strategy item (if available at launch), he could also reach the 85 mark for Deep Route Running, making him even more dangerous as a vertical threat.
4. Jihaad Campbell - WILL
Jihaad Campbell is one of the best, if not the best, user linebackers available at launch, which makes him a valuable addition to any defense. These final four players are all very close in value, and you could make a strong case for any of them near the top of the list. Campbell is the fastest linebacker in the game at release, and if you're not usering him, he still meets the key 85 Zone Coverage threshold. At 6'3", he also brings ideal height for a user defender, giving him the range and presence needed to make plays all over the field.
3. James Pearce Jr - REDG
James Pearce Jr. is the best pass rusher in the game at launch, and with the new stunts and twists introduced this year, his skill set becomes even more valuable. He brings elite speed off the edge and boasts the highest acceleration among all edge rushers, three points higher than the next closest player. He also meets the 85 threshold for Finesse Moves which helps him win those one-on-one matchups. The ability to generate consistent pressure without relying on heavy blitzing is a major advantage, and Pearce Jr. is exactly the kind of player who can make that possible.
2. Luther Burden III - WR
Luther Burden III is essentially an upgraded version of Emeka Egbuka. He offers the same top-end speed, but with slightly better route running and more effective skill moves after the catch. Burden meets the key 85 thresholds for both Short and Medium Route Running, as well as for Juke and Spin Move. He also has the highest Agility rating among receivers at launch, making him a dynamic option with the ball in his hands. With the importance of depth at wide receiver, Burden is an excellent choice among the Rookie Premiere players.
1. Xavier Watts - SS
Our top pick among the Rookie Premiere players is Xavier Watts. He’s not only the best safety at launch, but arguably the best defensive back in the game overall. Watts brings elite speed, second only to a single 76 OVR player, and is the only DB at launch to hit the key 85 thresholds in both Man and Zone Coverage. His versatility allows him to play at either safety or cornerback in any defensive scheme. While all of the Rookie Premiere players are strong choices, Watts stands out as our top pick due to his elite combination of speed and coverage, at a very important position.
