Theme Team Boosts in MUT 27 have been reworked, with 25 Components now being the magic number to hit at launch for the coveted +1 SPD boost. For players new to MUT, theme teams are built by adding players who share the same Team Chemistry—or the same Program Chemistry—to your lineup. As you add more matching players, you'll unlock ratings boosts for everyone sharing that Team or Program Chemistry, including the all-important +1 speed boost (SPD).
Along with the updated boost structure, 70-79 Uncommon players can now switch Team Chemistries like 80+ players have been able to in the past! Check out the boosts below and hear why we think a hybrid theme team will be the way to go at launch:
Theme Team Chem Boosts
*Most player items in MUT count as 1 Component towards your total, though some players can count for x2 or more. Items that count for more than x1 will have x2, x3, etc. displayed with the chemistry symbol.
- Tier 1 (5 Components): +1 STR
- Tier 2 (10 Components): +1 AGI
- Tier 3 (15 Components): +1 COD
- Tier 4 (20 Components): +1 ACC
- Tier 5 (25 Components): +1 SPD, +1 CTH, +1 THP, +1 TAK, +1 PBK, +1 RBK, +1 BSH, +1 MCV, +1 ZCV, +1 POW, +1 SRR
Uncommon Player Team Chems
A nice quality-of-life improvement in MUT 27 is that all Core Uncommon players (70-79 OVR) can now switch Team Chemistry, just like Elite players have in previous years. This update should make it easier than ever to build theme teams as soon as the game launches!
Why You Should Consider Building a Hybrid Theme Team
Since +1 SPD is unlocked at 25 Components, the highest tier available at launch, many players will likely choose to build a hybrid theme team with their 55-man roster. A hybrid theme team combines two (or more) Team Chemistries—for example, Raiders and Steelers or Patriots and Cowboys.
Reaching 25 Components for both teams means players from each team still receive full Team Chem boosts, including +1 SPD, while giving you far more flexibility when building your lineup. The ideal hybrid teams complement one another, meaning one team is strong at positions where the other is weak.
