#1 - How do you like to attack Cover 4 Drop defenses?
Answer:
Cover 4 Drop is one of the most popular defenses in this year’s game, and if you don’t have a plan to attack it, you’re going to struggle moving the ball.
Last week, we covered how to attack Cover 4 Quarters underneath, and the good news is that those same concepts work for chipping away at Cover 4 Drop as well. However, what makes Cover 4 Drop unique is that it typically only rushes three defenders, giving you extra time in the pocket to look for deeper shots.
In today’s video, we break down a universal one-play touchdown that you can set up to exploit Cover 4 Drop defenses. Watch to see exactly how to execute it and start stretching the field against this popular coverage!
#2 - What are the best abilities for each position?
Answer:
Each year, we team up with mut.gg to create and maintain their Ability Tier List, giving you the best tool for knowing which abilities dominate the game and which ones aren’t worth using.
This tier list helps you identify the must-have abilities for each position while also highlighting those that may not be as effective and probably shouldn’t take up a spot on your team.
We also want to hear from you! Think an ability should be ranked higher or lower? Drop a comment below and let us know your thoughts. Your feedback helps us keep the list as accurate as possible!
#3 - How do you like to defend the Trips TE Flex Meta?
Answer:
When defending any formation in Madden, it all comes down to what your opponent is specifically running from that set—there’s no single defensive call that shuts down every play. The key is to focus on stopping the most popular route combinations first, then adjust based on your opponent’s tendencies.
One of our favorite defenses for countering the Trips TE Flex meta is Cover 3 Buzz Mable out of 3-3 Odd (or Cover 3 Buzz Match in other formations). This defense has unique match coverage principles to take away the go-to routes most players rely on, forcing them out of their comfort zone.
Check out the video for a full breakdown, including specific adjustments and user responsibilities to help you lock down Trips TE Flex effectively!
#4 - What abilities are best for your RB/FB in pass protection?
Answer:
Certain blitzes in Madden require you to block your running back or fullback to pick them up consistently. Having the right abilities on your backs can make a huge difference, giving you more time to go through your reads and make the right throws.
The best pass-blocking ability overall is Secure Protector—not just for running backs, but also for offensive linemen and tight ends. This ability helps prevent quick disengages from defenders, keeping your QB protected longer. If Secure Protector isn’t available, All Day is a solid alternative to improve your RB’s blocking consistency.
Some players have asked about Honorary Lineman, but it’s important to note that this ability only boosts impact blocks, which means it won’t help in traditional pass-blocking situations.
