#1 - How to beat Cover 3 Match?
Answer:
Cover 3 Match is a variation of match coverage that can be tricky because your typical Cover 3 beaters don’t always work the same way against its matching principles.
One of the best ways to attack this defense is out of a formation like Tight Open, focusing on the two receivers to the short side of the field. Put the inside receiver on a streak and the outside receiver on a speed out, then custom stem that speed out up three times using the d-pad.
This concept doesn’t just beat Cover 3 Match, it also works against Cover 3 Sky and Cover 3 Hard Flats, making it a great concept to have in your toolbox.
Be sure to check out the video to see exactly how this looks in-game.
#2 - How do you block the Cross Fire loop blitz?
Answer:
Cross Fire out of Dime 14 has been one of the most popular blitzes for years, and you’re going to see it again this season. The good news? You don’t need to keep a running back or tight end in protection, your offensive line alone can handle it.
The setup is simple: first, untarget the user defender who’s mugging the gap. Then, half-slide your line toward the side where the looping linebacker is aligned. This adjustment allows your line to consistently pick up the pressure, giving you a clean pocket and plenty of time to make throws downfield.
Check out the video to see the full breakdown in action.
#3 - How do you lock your user defender pre-snap?
Answer:
Locking your user defender pre-snap is a great way to get a jump at the snap without having to perfectly time it yourself. By locking in place, you can already be holding the left stick in the direction you want to go, whether that’s dropping into coverage quickly or shooting toward the line of scrimmage.
There are a couple ways to do this, but my favorite is by pulling up the stunt menu. Simply press left on the d-pad, then tap RB. Once the stunt menu is open, your defender is locked. From there, you can hold the left stick in any direction, and your player won’t move until the ball is snapped.
#4 - How do you beat Cover 2 Man defense?
Answer:
Cover 2 Man is one of the most popular defenses in the game right now, and it can feel suffocating. With defenders in press man, two safeties over the top, a user roaming the middle, and a solid pass rush even with just three rushers, it often seems like nobody can get open.
This week, we’ll be updating our Meta Buster with multiple ways to consistently beat Cover 2 Man.
For today’s video, we’re focusing on the Mesh concept. Mesh is effective against all types of man coverage because of the natural traffic it creates over the middle. What makes certain Mesh plays especially strong this year are the stock option-route drags. These routes can’t be cleanly pressed, which allows both drags to get separation across the field. The read is simple: watch where the user defender goes, and throw to the opposite drag.
And again, if you want to dive deeper into more ways to attack this coverage, make sure to stay tuned for our full Meta Buster update later this week!
