#1 - How do you become a better user?
Answer:
Improving as a user comes down to three core fundamentals:
- Understanding Route Combinations
You need to recognize common route combos and what your opponent is likely to run. If
you're just freelancing all over the field, you’ll often do more harm than good. The best
users anticipate, not chase. - Knowing Your Assignment
Every defense you call has a specific user responsibility. If you consistently abandon your zone or man coverage assignment, you're leaving easy windows for your opponent to exploit. - Mastering Player Movement
A great user understands their player’s movement, especially change of direction. You need to know what routes you can cover and when to break on them. Reacting too late or overcommitting can take you out of the play.
The first two come with reps and experience — the third is something we walk through in detail in the video with specific practice tips.
#2 - Can you block the disengage blitz with a TE attached?
Answer:
Yes — you can block the guard disengage blitz using an attached tight end, but the setup matters.
To pick it up consistently, follow these two key steps:
- Align the TE on the blitz side – Make sure your tight end is on the same side the blitz is coming from and is set to block.
- Half-slide away from the TE – Slide your protection away from the tight end. This ensures the offensive tackle picks up the blitzing middle linebacker, which is exactly what you want.
When done right, this adjustment gives you enough time to read the field without getting insta-sacked by the blitz.
#3 - How do you change your camera angle once you're in a game?
Answer:
This actually trips up a lot of players, but it's an easy fix once your settings are right.
First, from the main Madden or MUT menu, go to Settings > Game Options and look for the Camera Toggle option.
- If you want the ability to change camera angles during a game, make sure Camera Toggle is set to ON.
- If it's OFF, your angle will stay locked.
Once in-game, you can cycle through camera angles by simply pressing up or down on the D-pad.
Personally, I leave Camera Toggle OFF so I don’t accidentally end up with a weird angle before the snap — but it’s all preference.
We walk through exactly where to find this setting in the video!
#4 - Who wins between Route Tech and Inside Shade?
Answer:
This is a great question, and it actually applies to Inside Shade, Outside Shade, and One Step Ahead.
When Route Technician goes up against any of these man coverage abilities, neither side truly “wins.” Instead, the abilities cancel each other out — meaning they’re effectively turned off for that play. So the receiver won’t get the Route Tech separation boost, and the defender won’t get the enhanced man coverage from their ability.
#5 - Which abilities work best in match coverage?
Answer:
This is a common question, and understandably a bit tricky. When it comes to KO abilities in match coverage, Zone KOs are what you want. Even though match coverage can turn into man-to-man responsibilities, it still functions as zone for the purposes of ability activation — so Zone KOs will trigger, while Man KOs will not.
That said, once players start to match, man coverage ratings start to matter. So when you're building a match coverage scheme, focus on Zone KO abilities but prioritize players with strong man coverage ratings as well.
One more important detail: Zone KOs activate based on the location of the throw, not the starting zone. For example, if your corner is in an outside quarter and the ball is thrown 12 yards toward the sideline, Mid Zone KO will trigger — not Deep Out Zone KO — because of where the catch is happening.
