#1 - How do you like to stop the zig route from Gun Bunch?
Answer:
One of the most common route combos you’ll see from Gun Bunch is in the play “Dig Return” — featuring a drag, zig, and flat route all to the bunch side.
To shut it down, the key is setting your zone drops correctly to take away the drag and flat. That leaves the zig route isolated for our user to take care of.
In the video, we walk through the exact adjustments step-by-step, plus a sneaky way to bait your opponent into throwing right into your user.
#2 - How do you like to stop RPO Read plays?
Answer:
RPO Read plays are the toughest RPOs to stop in Madden — and it all comes down to pre-snap alignment.
What makes these plays tricky is the read key. If you're relying on that defender to cover the bubble, you're setting yourself up to give up big plays over and over again.
The key is knowing who the read key is and how your defensive alignment influences that. Once you understand that, you’ll have everything you need to consistently shut these plays down.
RPOs aren’t broken — you just need the right plan on defense.
#3 - How do you stop HB Stretch out of Singleback Wing Pair?
Answer:
Stretch out of Singleback Wing Pair is a go-to run for serious “toters” — and if you don’t have a plan, it can break off big plays all game long.
In this video, we take a unique approach to stopping it. We overload the 3 tight end side, baiting the offense into flipping the run to the weak side — exactly where we want it. Once they flip it, we’ve got a defender waiting to blow it up in the backfield.
Watch the full breakdown to see the exact adjustments and how to bait your opponent into running straight into a loss.
#4 - What do the "ignores resistance" abilities do on lineman?
Answer:
Some lineman abilities — like Speedster, Unspun, and Ripper — mention “ignoring resistance,” but what does that actually mean?
In Madden, offensive linemen build resistance points throughout the game against specific pass rush moves. These points make it harder for defenders to win with the same move repeatedly. You can actually see this in-game as a graphic below the O-line when you’re usering near the trenches.
Abilities that say they “ignore resistance” allow defenders to bypass those built-up resistance points when using a specific move, giving you cleaner, more consistent wins even against linemen who have adjusted to you. This can also apply to the offensive line, where they get an added resistance point if using the appropriate ability.
In the video, we break down exactly how resistance works, what it looks like in-game, and how these abilities give you an edge.
#5 - How do you beat match out of Trips TE or Gun Y Off Trips Pats?
Answer:
“Match” isn’t a single defense — it’s a style of coverage. So when someone asks how to beat “match,” it really depends on what type: Cover 3 Match, Quarters, Palms, Etc. — they all react differently.
That’s why, in this video, we break down a simple hot route combo that consistently beats all three of the most popular match defenses. It works out of both Trips TE and Gun Y Off Trips Pats, and it doesn’t require any crazy adjustments or specific abilities.
Depending on the coverage shell, different receivers will become the go-to read — and once you know what you’re looking at, you’ll know exactly where to go with the ball.
