Does anyone still play man?

Man only seems to work against Omaha and players with Omaha are too confidence and expect to see zones they can torch

But between bunch, crosses, even streaks, plus so many WRs/TEs getting Route Tech, Rac Em Up, its near impossible to play consistent man, even with all the top DB abilities and constant switch sticking

The hardest player to cover is always the RB.  Space and switch slant route, CPU players cant seem to defend this.  So if you shade outside, they'll just send the RB underneath to the opposite side

Also, One Step ahead rarely works.  It doesnt even consistenty cover slow TEs with no abilities

Bottleneck rarely works.  The DB has to be perfectly aligned...If not, the WR/TE will run right past them

If you do cover 0 and send massive blitz, they'll just bubble RPO you for huge gains

no man is way more luck then skill

I only really run man when i  know my opponent has a pre -determined receiver hes gonna throw. Like if i know hes gonna throw some sorry checkdown to his TE or something on a short yardage situation ill run man and just pray that my defender will be close enough to do anything to prevent a catch

you have to user and man-up the receiver the opp wants to go to, otherwise they will likely get a cheap opening in the flat somewhere

Run nothing but man have made champ every season play a lot of pros and top 100 players if you know how to shade and adjust players into zones while still in a man shell you can lock anything down 3/4 down mid blitz or shade underneath inside/outside throw the mlb into a deep blue lots of things you can do to make your man cover what you/ cpu cant but it is all manual meaning you have to actually have skill and not rely on a ko to bail out your coverage cause you can’t guard it zone players rely on a ability to fix it for them zone is always gonna be the meta towards the end of the year I refuse to run it because it takes no skill and I hate letting a cpu play for me

Would it not take more skill to be aware of the zones your players are in and manipulate the zones to beat your opponent and switch stick?

Isn’t man just letting your AI play defense? Maybe you have it backwards?

I just find it disappointing that leverage and commitment never seems to put my CPU-controlled defenders in a position to make a play. I KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING. Why then did that not translate to a pick? Because coding.

I think man is useful if you mix in some disguised man blitzes occasionally or even two man under shaded over the top where you use the safeties to take away one side of the field and user the other rather than leave them to help deep.

While playing a majority of zone.

Cover 4 cover 3 most popular tbh which takes no skill just a brain dead coverage which can be glitched and one played but in most scenarios is good with a competent player/switch stick with man even if I have every advantage your player will still beat my man because how it’s coded you have to have better user skills to confidently run a man scheme

I can agree with that.

I do and I take the approach @ratrice mentioned. With so many people running the same plays, it’s gotten easier to tell which first read crosser they’re looking to hit. I obviously make adjustments and put some guys in zones pre snap but I’m primarily man with the intent to shut down the most vulnerable route with a user and force them to make a bad second read. Needs good pressure to pull off which gets harder if I drop any rushers back to help but it works for me! (I don’t mid blitz either).

There are usually multiple reads and the user runs half as fast as those speed boosted glitch routes that people use, so you got the AI man defender cooked and you cant keep up as a user either.

Not only that, but people successfully throw to covered receivers with free form passing with ease. The man defenders dont usually react.

Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying this is the magic bullet that will provide unstoppable d. Believe me, I’ll have my struggles like the rest of us. Just saying this is my approach (in very simplified terms without discussing my other adjustments and who I typically drop into zone based on what I’m seeing) and it’s worked well for me. And yes I know there are many things to account for including multiple routes, the run, etc…. I have simplified the hell outta the philosophy I employ in running a successful man scheme for brevity.
