Good day, everyone
I have a question here that would need some explaining
Can somebody please explain to me how a defender who stands over the center in mid blitz can get a interception off the the running back who is on a flat route ?
First, we have to consider the fact that the running back is about a yard to the left or right of the defender who is standing over the center. So again my question is , How can he cover that much ground and be able to be behind the line of scrimmage to then pick it off also consider the fact that usually the running back has 2 to 3 more speed points than a defender and yet they’ll still meet. How can that be possible?
I could maybe make a small argument if the defender had more speed points than the running back I just don’t see how it’s possible to hover over the center then be able to step backwards , cut to the left , or right , take off running and then still be able to meet the half back just doing one motion which is just running to the flat.
