Online forums are never an accurate depiction of reality. If you dont like something then why should I care to convince you otherwise. People usually come to forums for more content, help, or to vent. People dont come here to convince the people who are venting that they are wrong. So naturally the complainers think they are in the majority.
Im just telling you that its a video game and you can either enjoy it for what it is and do some things to make it more enjoyable, or you can continue to complain about it. I really dont care.
To your other point about possessions that I already addressed in my other reply:
Madden has 4 minute quarters with an accelerated clock. There's max 4 posessions per game. A real NFL game has 15 minute quarters and an average of about 10-12 possessions and over 60 (!!) offensive plays. This makes posessions way too important to just punt the ball away. I also won't get fired from coaching my MUT team for making a bad decision when I turn the ball over on my own 20. Either way, if you turn the ball over on down, or if you punt it, your defense has to get a stop to win the game because of the limited posessions. This is why its statisically preferrable to go for it on 4th down. If madden had 15 minute quarters then it would be more like a real football game which is kind of like a marathon and not like madden which is more of a sprint.
The other point that you dont want to accept, which is the point of all points, is that its a video game brother! 2K isnt real basketball. NHL isnt real hockey. GTA isnt real life. Call of duty isnt real war. Madden is not real football. Its a video game that allows us to pretend we are in something like a football game. You are not throwing the ball, catching it, or making a tackle. You are pressing buttons on a controller. To expect it to be a 100% accurate depiction of reality is delusional. Maybe AI will get us there one day. Probably pretty soon. Until then, we have madden.
If you start a league with your own rules then invite me to it, I'd actually like something like that. But it won't happen in an official game mode.
In a game with supposedly many tens of thousands of players, why do I recognize so many of my opponents, particularly when I can literally call out their plays, but can't stop one of their four receivers from getting wide open by ten or more yards after they rollout? Surely I should almost never play the same person twice, and yet I'll run into the same person at a different time of day in a matter of weeks.
It wouldn't be statistically preferable to go for it on fourth-and-long from your own territory if defense didn't suck. Regardless of the number of possessions. You can look at the number of plays in a game of Madden relative to an NFL game. Why do you struggle to see that the rate at which cheesers score touchdowns in Madden exceeds the NFL average at a more than 2:1 clip? The worst of them score at 3:1 over the NFL. So, yes, you are right, and for exactly the reason that you are wrong for excusing what Madden is in the hands of a user who has no sense of football but a clear comprehension of how Madden is broken.
Why talk about the game in football terms and pretend it's like football when that's not even how winning MUT users play the game?
I'm not so unreasonable as to look for a 100% accurate depiction. How about something that resembles football in any sense of the word "resemble"?
Stop telling me what I will or won't accept. That was all covered in my opening post. Your best justification that things are alright as they are is that it's a video game??!! Bro, that's not even an answer. It's just a cynical surrender to the way things are, and that's exactly how to get nowhere in life.
