not any stat, SPD and ACC don't follow that path as much. above 90 is all that matters

That is so stupid. Why would anyone spend and buy the high value cards??? How can a 90 stat be the same as 99. It makes no sense at all. But thanks as always

some cards do just play better than their stats (and some play worse). but like I said earlier Name value, TTs, speed, and abilities are the main reasons to buy those cards

This is a great thread and I love that you asked this question. I have been thinking about this recently due to the upgrades on these breakouts players. Hearing guys say catching isn't as important as speed and vice versa etc. I hope this elite madden community can school me here.

I'm wondering if it's better to not try and get my players stats as high as possible but to use the strat items and other boost to boost up the less used stats. If that makes any sense. Instead of using a strat card on dbs to get coverage to 99 I can use a different item to try and get the lesser stats to 90. In theory that should make the perform better since 90 is all that matter right?

Generally speaking thresholds allow access to better animations and superwins. Here is the most recent actual data I know of around thresholds.
This does not mean that anything above these stat points is meaningless or irrelevant, it means that moving up one stat point from immediately below the threshold to the threshold, has an outsized effect. Ideally, think of thresholds as the minimum value you want a stat to be.
Regardless of thresholds, most stats do not scale linearly, you can look here to get a better idea about some of them.
A very quick and dirty way to think about some important stas:
Skill position players: Spd/acc/agi/cod. Route running, ball carrier moves, coverage and press.
OLine/DLine: Strength, awareness, blocking, power/finesse moves, and blochshedding.
QB: Passing accuracies, thp, tup, pac, run.
